Poll: WoD Online Dead?

While there have been bits and peices to suggest CCP still has a hand on the idea(files at thier presentation in march were marked WoD) there has been no official word in years now. It's getting to the point where some people I know are starting to lose hope that the game is being made.

It's been suggested by others it's become vapourware. That is, CCP still has an eye on it, but nothing is actually being done with the property. That is that the fact that files at the demonstation where just left over floatsom from the project, not indicators it's in the works. With CCP not saying anything at all about the game it's hard to decry them. The fact that we are halfway through the target release year and there has been no word doesn't help either.

Does anyone know any better? Anything at all?

First things first. Clarify that "WoD" stands for "World of Darkness." I'm not sure how many of us are on here who know that.

Second things after. Holy crap, I hope not. I'm genuinely looking forward to that. I don't know anything else, though.

now iv never actually played any rpg's online (by which i mean table top rpg's) but im not sure how it would work as for me and my group anyway alot of rping is the people you play with or am i misinterperting what wod online is?

Yes sorry, the World of Darkness MMORPG.

It was announced about four years ago. That....was about the last anyone really heard about it other than a tidbit here and there that seemed to relate to it. Last time being the cloth render demo in March. A year before when they were asked about it the generic response form all staff was "What Vampires?" Which, while was cute, really didn't tell anyone anything.

oh ok that makes alot more sence. tbh i have mixed feeling about a wod mmorpg i can see how it would work, with things such as classes and races but i feel the mmo'ing it would kind of take away from the feeling of freedom i love about the games. that being said i may have had my oppinion clolored by wow's gameplay (and the fact the blizzard ownes my soul). i would be very nice to see it work but im not sure i would. ofc that just my first impression as i have never heard of this befor so feel free to ignor me =P.

This is the first I'm hearing of this. Is this mmo going to be based on the old or new WoD. I feel like the more personal horror of the new WoD wouldn't be a very good fit for an mmo. The old WoD, with it's 8 or 9 apocalypses ready to occur any day, could be a very good fit.

Well, to be honest since it's being made by CCP, the company that made EVE online, I imagine WoW is the last game any MMO they make would be like.

I'm reeeeeeallly trying hard to not look forward to it. CCP makes a great MMO, and I'd love to see their take on the World of Darkness.

That said, I would cry manly tears to find out if it was cancelled.

Also, why do we think it's coming out this year? Or supposedly.

edit: Figured I should expand on this. If there's no word on it, that means there's no beta yet. That means there's no way in heck it's going to be released this year. MMOs need a long time to test before release.

Sadly, they aren't doing anything with the Old WoD anymore so it is probably going to be New WoD.

Bit of a note CCP actually bought out White Wolf who makes all the games in the World of Darkness range. They own them lock, stock and barrel.

It was the slated release date in the announcment of when they started. I could understand it being pushed back(what game isn't these days?) though I would have thought they would say something about it if that was the case.

It probably will get compared to WoW but not as much as it will get compared to EVE.

I'd comment more on what the game is going to be like but....as stated there really is no info out there to discuss.

We all miss Kindred of the East. Oh well, there's always Exalted, with its even more broken combat system.

Nope, nada, ziltch.

Other than they are supposedly working on a World of Darkness MMO, we got no info at all. Which Supernaturals will be in it, where it is set, how it will play, etc. All these questions have not been answered in four years of development.
