I'm not seeing this here so I thought I might post it for kicks. Can you embed Youtube videos here ?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_SFdUJLebzU

(story is Tim Minchin was asked to write a Christmas song for the Jonathan Ross show, he cooked something up despite being sick and way too busy, everybody was fine with it until the head of ITV heard it so it got cut at the very last second)

A few notes, given he performed the song a few times in public after filming the Jonathan Ross show but before it aired...
This twitter exchange the very next day tells you all you need to know about the Spiderman line :

Olanoo:
@timminchin I hate to be pedantic but...you know the first song last night, did you mean to say 'spiderman' not 'superman'? :) x
Tim Minchin
@Olanoo what? spiderman can't fly! (although the great responsibility line was originally spidee's, it's kind of the superhero creed no?)

Afterwards he replaced "Superman" with "Superhero" in the song.

Also, that line with Psychic Sally with a pause after ? The lyrics supposed to occupy that pause are "...without the earpiece".
(everyone at ITV except for Peter Fincham seemed to be fine with the rest of the song, but apparently you Don't Mess With Sally Morgan...)

EDIT : Sorry about the poll options, I didn't realize it doesn't accept apostrophes ! Well, screw grammar then.
REDIT : HOW DO I EDIT THE POLL :'(
REDITAGAIN : Oh wait you just have to try three times. OK good to know.

What does don mean on the poll options?

Eh, ITV, needs to keep it's viewers happy with shit like X-Factor to keep big adverts going and get lots of money for the fat Cats.

*Mumble grunt* This would never of been cut on the Beeb *Grunt*

You know what, who cares what ITV does? ITV is probably the most boring, spineless, gutless and vanilla of the major UK networks. They don't want to offend their audience because most of their audience is the elderly. That's why you see the same programmes year on year. I'm surprised they even have Jonathan Ross on there.

If the BBC or Channel 4 had done this I might have cared.

He went on a live TV show and performed a song about wanting to fuck the host's wife, and then went onto another one and performed a song pitching a show idea involving 5 gay people, adding that maybe they could use it to drag one of the other guests out of the closet!
It was the same show xD
(and a show by the same guy as this time, too, although the broadcaster is different)

Yeah, I read about it when he posted the video. So ridiculous. The song really isn't offensive, just draws some clever parallels. As the first reply states, did they expect something religious? This is incredibly tame for Minchin, just a clever funny little song. At least we got to hear the song, but it sucks that Tim rushed to put this song together for nothing. It's also pretty pathetic it got censored, but I can't be bothered going into that.

One more reason not to watch itv. Like I needed anymore reasons not to watch a channel full of adverts where sometimes a tv show breaks out. It may just be me but i swear that if you removed the adverts all shows on itv would last 10minutes. On a side not Tim Michin is awesome.

I don't think it's offensive, I don't think one thing he said about Jesus hadn't been said before on tv or by other comedians, for example

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSJSWGpXbMg

Though, sounds to me like a massive over reaction by one panicy executive, or the upsetting of one very stupid celebrity, like what happened to Frankie Boyle over his joke about Jordan's son.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sq5Eg2DEZkI

He's made far more offensive jokes in the past, but Jordan being the dumb bimbo she is only cared because it was aimed at her and her son.

The network is stupid. What the fuck did they expect, inviting Tim Minchin on to do a Christmas song? This is the guy who wrote Ten Foot Cock and a Few Hundred Virgins (Anal Sex and God) [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXfmjMlPEic&feature=relmfu], Storm [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhGuXCuDb1U&feature=youtu.be], If You Open Your Mind Too Much Your Brain Will Fall Out [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBUc_kATGgg&feature=relmfu], Fuck the Poor [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcdtVD8X1-A], and The Pope Song [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8QgyLQaV-k&feature=related] (main line: "Fuck the ************").

He's an atheist, absolutely full to the brim with biting satire and not one to shy away from offending people. He went on a live TV show and performed a song about wanting to fuck the host's wife, and then went onto another one and performed a song pitching a show idea involving 5 gay people, adding that maybe they could use it to drag one of the other guests out of the closet!

...And yet this, a really harmless series of jokes about Jesus (seriously, he could've been a LOT meaner), leads to him getting censored by the broadcaster? Nice.
Thanks for the links, I didn't know the Pope song existed. I know the others though ;)
God I love Tim Minchin. He makes a good Jesus. And ITV is fucking retarded. But what else can you expect from Australians

I like Tim Minchin but I don't really care for that song, it was not offensive it was just boring and not very funny, though I'll agree with the other guys and say that the only mildly offensive thing is that he got Spiderman and Superman mixed up, I mean seriously how?!
