Poll: Worst year of this decade

In response to the TWO polls that claimed that this was the WORST DECADE EVER, I decided to narrow down the worst year of this decade. Since we are only allowed 8 options I condensed 2005, 2007 and 2008 into a single option. Please include a post explaining exact reasons WHY you chose your year as the worst of the decade.

I'll say 2005. It was a bad year for me personally in high school and it was a terrible year for the country as Hurricane Katrina revealed our ineptitude and the wars in the Middle East raged on.

Well, there's that whole 9/11 thing that happened in 2001, but in 2008 there was an even greater tragedy when an evil socialist baby-eater named Barack HUSSEIN Obama was elected president of the greatest nation on earth, the United States of America.

They all had some good times and some bad ones. I couldnt really say which one sucked most. Although the second half of 2009 was pretty shite.

2006 wasn't great. My second year of middle school, which I hated, and system of a down went on hiatus.

2001 for America, 2009 for me. Incidentally 2009 was also probably my best year as well. 2008 is when my life actually started in my mind. Everything before then was at this horrible school that I used to go to with nearly no memories from except bad memories. 2009 was great, but it's also when I actually opened my eyes to what was going on around which trust me, is not a good thing. But I don't want to go on about stupid personal crap that no one cares about so yeah, 2009 was awful for me but it was also great.

I would say 2001 because of that whole thing, but I'm a selfish bastard so I'll say 2009.

I went through a particularly traumatic experience at the start of the year.

2008.. death of my overflowing free time and acknowledgement of unreadiness for a certain event (alongside personal issues) that lead to me in a hospital bed for 2 days

Personally it was 2005. That was the year my parents split up and things in the house got nasty. But it's mostly cleared up now.

I also really don't remember the early years of the decade...I was much younger then. So 2009 for me.

2001 and 2002 were both terrible wreckonings in the metal word.

2001 - Charles Michael Schuldiner died, ending the godlike band Death
2002 - David Warren Ellefson left Megadeth

2001 is clearly the worse year cause Chuck died. (RIP)
