Right so recently I've started to get into PC gaming (All the pc gaming I've ever really done in the past was the orange box and tribes vengeance on my laptop) and since my mom's looking to buy a new desktop to replace the slow as hell one that she currently uses, she's agreed to let me choose which one to get. Now I'm not computer illiterate or anything, but I just have this feeling that I'm gonna overlook something important spec-wise :/
TL:DR : Tell me if this setup is any good.
Oh, btw I'm mostly going to be playing Crysis, Far cry 2 and Supreme Commander 2.

The computer [http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/acer-acer-aspire-amd-athlon-ii-x4-620-2-6ghz-computer-am3300-e1222-am3300-e1222/10137164.aspx?path=9d200f0c3c7d477058e5e9188233486een02]
The graphics card I'm going to buy and install myself. [http://www.nvidia.com/object/product_geforce_gtx_260_us.html]

If you're too lazy to click on the links:
Processor: AMD Athlon II X4 620 2.6 GHZ
Ram: 4GB DDR3
Graphics Card: Geforce GTX 260 with 1GB GDDR3

EDIT: I've decided to just make a PC, I'll probably make another thread this week asking for advice on which parts to use.

You dont want a normal HD. Get Solid State. Also thats a mini case...too small. You would have to get all low profile cards and such.

i voted meh but i might be a bit biased seeing as i just spent £260 on an ati 5850 toxic, its a pretty good system and will run every game well and most on high so unless you really want amazing eye candy or are a whore for powerfull hardware (like me) there's no need to upgrade.

Go for a GTX260 (I recommend Zotac) and the case is to small for any decent sized parts, go for something a bit more bulky if you don't want it turning white hot and have a load of melted parts and a decent graphics card wouldn't fit, simple as. :)

I hate to double post but if someone is buying a pc on the budget of a nvidia 250 do you really think it would be a sensible decision to upgrade to the money eater of pc gaming the ssd before upgrading any other component.

If you can afford an even better graphics card, get it: Crysis is insane.

As for the rest of it, I'd also recommend updating your sound card. Integrated sound cards consistently suck.

Get a bigger case.

I have one of those Acer Space Savers right next to me, and I spent £60 on a graphics card to have it not fit. It's agonizing.

I dont see how adding one of these [http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227510] as your primary HD after the fact is a deal breaker.

Of course not, you don't want to do what my friend did... got an i7, forgot about the heat sink, got about halfway through the BIOS and WOOOSH, the computer cuts out, it's white hot and welded to the motherboard :p

Smaller SSDs may be a decent price but my installed games alone are nearly 10 times that size and I dont consider installing windows to an SSD to knock a few seconds off boot time to be worth $95

Right, so I've found something that doesn't have a tower the size of a tissue box.

This one [http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/acer-acer-aspire-amd-athlon-ii-x4-620-2-6ghz-computer-am3300-e1222-am3300-e1222/10137164.aspx?path=9d200f0c3c7d477058e5e9188233486een02]

Thoughts?

EDIT: I've also decided to get a GTX 260, thanks furburt :D

Quite. You could get a fast terabyte hard drive for that much.

I dont know much about amd processors but it seems a little better and the DDR3 ram will certainly help out in ram intesive programs and the case, while not exactly a coolermaster looks big enough and cool enough for a low-mid end graphics card.

Have you considered ATI cards? The new 5000-series have a few quite affordable cards.

Or perhaps just building your own computer? You MAY get more bang for your buck.
