Explain your opinion on why you like it or not.I, for one, would do something that i can't say on the forums without being sued, kicked off the forums and being called a sterotypical horny teenager.I think that it would cause an everlasting breakthrough in the gaming industries storytelling.

How do you propose to best mix Bioware Choice (tm) with the hardcore hiking simulation we love Bethesda for?

No.

Competition and diversity is good for the industry - if Bethesda and Bioware worked together, there wouldn't be many devs out that there that could effectively compete with them. Might be good in the short term - but long term, I don't think I could think of anything else that would have a worse impact on RPG's.

While it's tempting to imagine a game that combined the best strengths of both developers, it's just as likely we'd get a game that magnified the weaknesses of both. And as others have said, it's good to have choice and variety and competition.

I still said "it would be nice" though, just to get Bioware out from under the yoke of EA.

That's just what I was thinking. I'm pretty sure EA is the single biggest problem Bioware's got these days, so my question would be this:

(1) Is Bethesda joining EA to hook up with Bioware, or

(2) Is Bioware leaving EA to hook up with Bethesda?

I tend to think there would be much rejoicing, but only if they picked option #2. I guess Bethesda would actually have to buy Bioware away from EA to do it, though, and I don't know if they've got the money for that...

You mean Zenimax right? Bethesda is just a subsidiary, same as Bioware is to EA.
Really? I thought the guys in charge of Bethesda created Zenimax to support it somehow, which sorta-kinda meant Bethesda owned itself. (I need to find the post elseforum where that one guy explained it.)

If Bethesda became Bioware's Publisher instead of EA? Fuck yes. Get the fuck out of here EA. But that's my only reason as to me liking it. Anyother way, fuck no.

If Zenimax wants to choke up money to buy some talent they should start with Obsidian. They're floundering anyway, and it'd be quite something to see a Bethesda game with Chris Avellone doing the writing.

I wouldn't mind, it might free us from Origin, but it'll never happen since EA doesn't just publish Bioware titles, it owns the company and its IP.

The best you could hope for would be for Bioware staff to leave en masse, get hired by Bethesda and start working on a whole new bunch of titles while EA hired someone else to pump out the new Old Republic/Mass Effect/Dragon Age titles. It might work, but I don't see it happening.

I don't have much interest in Bioware. It's not that making expressive faces for cutscenes is hard for other companies to do, it just that it soaks up a ton of money and leads to short linear games.

Their writing and plots have not been anything special, the reason people say their games have great story is because of the expressive faces / body language that they make using an expensive time consuming process that uses up the resources that could have gone to making a game that's fun to play.

Would I want the possibility of Hamburger Helper and all of those other hack writers who obsess about cheesy inter-species relationships in my Fallout/Elder Scrolls?

YOU SO CRAZY :p

Bethesda is a publisher, they don't make games. If you're going to hate someone make sure its for the right reason. Being an idiot makes you look like.....well, an idiot.

Bethesda Game Studios is the in-house development team for Bethesda Softworks.

Hmmm, well, I apologize. My fault.

But the decline of rpgs? I wouldn't go that far.

Yeah, I wouldn't say that they led to the decline of the RPG genre. If anything they made it more popular and easier to work with as a genre. Without Bioware and Bethesda, we'd basically been swimming in a sea of JRPGs. While good, they're different.

Edit: But as for my choice, I'd say no. A lack of competition would lead to the genre becoming stagnant.

Haha. Who looks like an idiot now ??

One makes dating sims and the other LARPing/hiking sims. Both with banal gameplay. Yea, they can both fuck off.

After Morrowind, Bethesda went to shit. After Baldurs Gate, Bioware went to shit.
Yeah, except for Neverwinter Nights and NWN2, Mass Effect 1,2,and 3 for the most part (I blame EA), and DA:O

Fallout 3 and Skyrim were pretty good.
