You just wandered into a highly radioactive area by mistake. You have run out of Rad-X and Rad-Away. There is not enough time to escape. Somehow, you know that you will become a Ghoul due to all this radiation. You look down at your belt...and there is your revolver. A though jumps though your head. "Maybe I dont want to be a Ghoul." The only way this will end is by a bullet to the brain, or becoming a Ghoul.

What is your choice?

so suicide or goulification?

I guess I could stick it out as a living corpse for a while...and if that gets too much just go feral and go nuts! probably wont even feel the pain

All ghouls eventually turn feral. Makes life simpler :)
huh..really?

thats kind of sad....like (what is it?) alzeimers or Dimentia..where you slowly feel your mind degrading

Well you could just kill yourself as a ghoul if it's starting to become too much. You still have that gun after all.

And that's why I'd go with becoming a ghoul. I can always apply the suicide decision later, and I have to say the idea of an incredibly long lifespan is kind of appealing. I could, I suppose, just cover myself up completely.
...like

spawn? holy shit I could be like SPAWN!! I could be a masked vilgeate badass...well if I cant physically do that I could get augmented with cybernetics or somthing! the possabilites are endless

I mentioned spawn bevause the guy has a face like a goul, so first thing that came to mind

and I figured cybernectics because I think aparently gouls are auposed to be kind of "corpsey" as in not that that agile or srong..which some peopel forget (I mean you even have goul rangers in NV though)

Make me a Ghoul. Imagine how good at gunfighting you could get with an extended lifespan, a priceless skill in the apocalypse.

They said it in Fallout 3, something about the radiation causing the ghoulification slowly eating away the brain.

And I think you're thinking of Alzheimer's, which is a form of dementia ;)
huh I figured going feral came from just "going crazy" and being unable to deal with being a ghoul...I mean its no surprise being a corpse you mind might get affected

EDIT: well whatever it is Its sad, I watch a documetry where normal smart people (like this guy being an ex barrister) have to deal with their mind "going" they know its going and theres nothing they can do..its even ahrder on the loved ones

It's said by a man who canonically hates ghouls, though. So I'd say it's uncertain whether or not all ghouls eventually become feral.

But...weren't the Ghouls mostly caused by the radiation and heat that came off of the bombs that were dropped in those areas. Radiation alone wouldn't turn you into a conventional ghoul now would it? You'd just be a guy with a shit ton of tumors.

there were a whole bunch of NCR gouls in fallout NV that were caused by some bomb..so Im not sure

but then Threedog in Fallout 3 warns about the dangers of radiation, one of which being "ugggh...[i/]Goulification[/i]" so mabye

Pretty much anybody who gets jacked up on radiation has a chance of becoming a ghoul in the Fallout verse. A ghoul NPC in Fallout the first mentions being part of "the first and last generation of ghouls", figuring that the bombs were the only way it could happen, but FO3 and NV both have several NPCs who become ghouls due to exposure to leftover radioactive waste. So presumably the FO1 NPC was retroactively wrong, or at least misinformed.

I could do so much with my life, but I choose this instead.
