So I just watched the new trailer for Deus Ex: HR and I thought of the title question and should share it with the Escapist. So would you buy robo limbs from Apple? If you wouldn't do you have a company you'd rather buy them from? Also what would you get?

For discussions sake, Apple isn't the only company making robotic limbs, they've been out commercially for a decade, and you have the money to choose what kind you'd get.

I wouldn't because I'd be afraid they'd be made obsolete in a year and that they'd drop the price right after I bought 'em. I'd want to get robotic eyes made by Lens Crafters, a robotic arm from Springfield Armory, and another arm by Cat.

Edit: I'm not bashing Apple, they were just the first company that popped in my head.

Edit2: What would you want on your new body parts? Or want them to be able to do?

I'd wait for Microsoft or some other Hardware producing company to make them. (Insert witty insult of Apple product here)

Depends, if the apple robotic limbs give me the ability to play my ipod through my limbs then I'd be all over that. If not than I'm going to wait until one of the cooler companies like microsoft or sony come out with robotic limbs.

Why Apple? Why not ASUS, MSI or Gigabyte?
I guess it's because I read an article recently where an update made some devices useless for customers running an older OS and it just stuck in my head. Nothing against Apple.

Eh, I don't think I would. I'd be afraid that they might start deliberately malfunctioning after a year or two.

Unless they could play music, that might change my mind.

nope, and you know what if they were the only company that made them I still wouldn't buy one from them! And this is coming from someone who genuinely needs one!

you just had to bring this topic up after i dislocated my knee for the 4th time.

so yes, i would buy a new leg, because no matter how buggy my iLeg is, it'll still be better than what i have.

they would just track where i am. i might get a robotic arm though (probably not from apple) when i'm old. probably go for legs tho, if it works well and i could run fast without really straining me that's definitly something i would do when i'm old.

Also if you didn't want people bashing apple, why would you say apple? you could say: "if the technology for a robotic arm had come out, would you get it?"

I wouldn't, because eventually they'd claim that my robotic limb was too old and stop me from using my older robotic leg in co-ordination with my shiny new robotic arm.

I'd buy a robotic limb from AMD, though. Yeah, it wouldn't be quite as powerful as a top-of-the-range Intel, but I'd sure as hell get far better value for money on my robotic whatever-the-hell.

Maybe I'm being too careful to not start an arguement. Should I remove it?

Nah, I would buy them from a leader in the robotic arms industry, which probably wouldn't come from anywhere like Microsoft or Apple. Not that I would buy them anyway, I like my current arms.

I would rather not have slightly better versions of what I already own come out every year. That and I would like to have support for last years model as well.

No, because Steve Jobs would require a firmware update which would break my cool and trendy (glossy white casing) robotic arm.

Me: Hey, now my arm doesn't work.
Steve: Correct, you'll need to purchase the next model.
Me: But.. it's attached to my body... >.>
