Based on another thread,
(http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.265573-Poll-The-show-the-escapist-couldnt-survive-without)
many people seem to think that the Escapist wouldn't surive without Zero Punctuation or atleast suffer an exodus of members.
So I ask, would you leave if Zero Punctuation wasn't a part of the site anymore ?

(Sorry if the poll doesn't work.)

I might mean that I visit here a lot less, but I don't know if I would stop coming here altogether.

Not sure to be really honest. ZP is what bought me here in the first place but I enjoy lurking the threads a lot. I don't think I'd be here as often but I'd take a look every now and again

Hell no. I feel just kind of obligated to watch ZP anymore anyways, if there isn't a title reviewed that I have played or am interested in. And it has to be a PC game to be either one. And I can tell you that those reviews make up for a rather small minority of the series.

It was the thing that made me know about this site a few years back, but since I've joined, I've been here for other stuff. Mainly for the forums.

no, I've seen a lot more on the escapist I like since ZP.

I would say that the escapist would get less traffic though.

Only reason I recently discovered the Escapist was because of a link to ZP on another site. If they shut it down now I'd probably never return - can't for sure say that will be my oppinion in a month or two though =p

Actually, this is untrue. What many people in that other thread stated, was that ZP is mostly reponsible for bringing in NEW members, NOT necessarily for KEEPING members.

As for me: I leave or stay on a forum, because of what happens on the forum, not because of what happens in a magazine associated with the forum (however, in this case the magazine influences what happens on the forum, so there is some interaction. And to be honest, right now i'm considering if it may perhaps be HEALTHY to the forum, if ZP would make a short pause - nothing permanent, just 1-2 months or so).

Nope, though I might feel highly depressed. Despite what some members might say, in my opinion, ZP is still great.

I came here because of Unforgotten realms personally, and am still around, even if I'm more of a lurker on these forums.

So the title "The show the Escapist couldn't survive without." is misleading ?
I'm not claiming it is true, I just want some additional data to confirm the established perception that it might be.
Would the Escapist keep all those new members without ZP ?

To be honest no, the video's are a good 'hook' but I like the forums and the articles as well now.

I don't watch ZP. (Here comes the mob with pitchforks...)

I came here for Shamus and stayed for that and Extra Credits. Also forum.

I did say what i did say in the quote, not how you reinterpreted it. There is no contradiction at all between escapist becoming unpopular without ZP, and EXISTING members not leaving because of ZP. The key is understanding that people think hyperbole: They equal escapist becoming unpopular, with it not surviving. So, the votes cast in that thread all mean something else than what was asked.

If that was true then why didn't people vote "other" and explain that another video series could just as easily have drawn them to the site ?

I do still feel this is a logical follow up question, survival would still require a large core user group not just a steady stream of new members.
