I've been playing WoW since 2006 and like other people who've been playing a long time can still remember the feeling of grinding scarlet monastery to get to level 40 to get your mount, they remember when they couldn't wait to step through the dark portal. We are the people who know the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor well and can picture each zone in our head. We ride up to Goldshire or through Ashenvale and feel like we're home.

However, Cataclysm looks to change these continents to a more fiery, red type theme. Now this is both good and bad IMO. WoW does need more as always and I do think the older content needs an update, but new players won't get to see the world in the glory and beauty that we did.

I kind of feel like its coming to the end of an era and i'm not so sure if im going to like how the world will look.

Does anyone else feel the same?

Very fucking good. Adding new land in an expansion is awesome, but going back and reworking all the existing zones? Genius. I'm really looking forward to it.

Yes, the barrens is the most iconic zone for me (I just like it), and now it's getting split.

My guild used to group up in the barrens before we'd raid Thunder Bluff lol and the alliance loved to always raid the crossroads

It's not just destroying everything. For example, you remember Naralex the Druid and his experiments in the Wailing Caverns? In Cataclysm, they'll have come to full fruition and the bottom part of The Barrens is now going to be pretty lush. Similarly, flooding in Desolace has made it easier for stuff to grow there.

As someone who's been playing WoW since almost launch, I think Cataclysm is a great idea. We all have fond nostalgic memories of Vanilla WoW, but have you ever gone back and done those quests for the Loremaster achievement? The quality of questing in Classic is almost PAINFULLY subpar after the awesome quests in TBC and WotLK. Personally, I'll be glad to see Blizzard change that.

Besides, it won't be changing *everything*. Some zones will remain mostly the same.

I am really stoked for Cataclysm. The sheer anticipation of it made me go back to wow again a month or so ago.

That doesn't sound too bad. Although will still miss the old zones that are being changed. I agree with you on the quests, there are very few fun, interesting quests in the original compared to the expansions.

I'm definitely excited for it. I just recently re-did the wrathgate quests and it's a nice little breadcrumb trail as to why Thrall might be tossed out.

Definitely excited for my goblin though (*sigh* though I love the worgen's starting zone I can't bring myself to roll a furrie).

It looks brilliant. I spend a lot of time around the barrens so it's going to be very exciting. Hopefully all the ally raiders will stop attacking it.

Cataclysm is the only thing that's keeping, Start with wow again, as an option for me.
in other words it seems awesome.

It looks interesting, and looking forward to Netherwing, only thing that I am not really sure about is the goblin race. Worgen have a reason to start fighting, they want to become humans again, but I don't know about the Goblins, seems odd for me that they are going horde since they earned money from both factions from being neutral. Don't see what they can earn on it by going horde.

And maybe blizz has posted why Goblins join horde and I haven't seen it...

EDIT: And archeology sounds both interesting and "grindish" like a miner:p

You didn't hear this from me, but I'm sure a few "private" wow servers will keep to the old ways just in case the new wow look it's your cup of tea. Who knows..

I like the look and idea of what they are doing overall, though in the end I must say that I no longer wish to continue playing the game. The overall public within the WoW community, the long hours of having to perfect a character, and the past experiences with the game has made me not want to play it any longer.

Not to mention I consider Blizzard's customer experience to be lacking courtesy.

It's definitely a good idea. The question remains, can they execute? I have no doubt that the lore and the art will be excellent as always, but I don't think they are going to be able to create as much of a draw as they have with the expansions thus far.

While I'm not a huge fan of WoW everytime someone mentions the new expansion I pitch a tent.

I liked the way FFXI redid the areas. You go to the past version of the world and everything is different, and harder.
