I'm having a really tough time figuring out which to buy. Guild Wars has graphics and story, but a level cap of 20. WoW has a level cap of 70, but all of the quests amount to just killing things. Also, Guild Wars has no subscription fee, which might end up being the deal breaker for me.

Does anyone have anything else to add? I urge you to try to pitch the games to me, but this might be asking a bit too much.

NO FLAMING/TROLLING. Also, I'm sorry if this thread has been done before.

Actually WoW has a lvl cap of 80 and from what I have heard guild wars lvl cap is so low because that game is based on player skill.

I have played WoW on and off for awhile but never picked up guild wars.

Not all of the quests in WoW ammount to killing things. Some amount to running around until you see something sparkling and picking it up.

Oh for pity's sake, not this question again!

Oh well. WoW is the game for you if you like grind. All the grind in Guild Wars is optional (titles) as the level cap is low and rare item drops don't make you any stronger. Guild Wars has better balanced PvP while WoW's is more large-scale (since GW's is strictly arena-based). I say GW is the better game, personally, and the fact that it has no subscription fee (and is cheap to buy these days) is DEFINITELY better value.

Welcome to the Escapist. Something you should know is that the mods don't like vs. threads it leads to too much flaming.
Sorry. I'll change the title and add the "no flaming rule" to the main post if that would help.

Guild Wars is barely an MMO nowadays. Whenever I get on, The only PvP is the Heroes Guild or Hall or whatever and the only PvE is no where. I can't find a group for any Instances I want to do.

I've only played WoW, so obviously I'll go with that. It's okay, nothing special in my opinion. It's too slow, I'm a UT/Quake kinda guy.

I have played both, and guild wars is much better, the low level cap means its more about skill than grinding, so, unless you like grinding, get guild wars

None! Life destroying games. ;3 Go play outside!

Then again, if you already have no life or you're allergic to the sun or something... I'd go for WoW..

Of course, World of Warcraft won't ruin your life if you have even the slightest iota of self control! Even if you do, one of my mates got addicted to it, and then got hired by Blizzard as a quality tester...

In regards to World of Warcraft Vs. Guild Wars, I'd say you get what you pay for.

To put it bluntly: fuck off with the bullshit of "WOW DESTROYS LIVES" its getting old.

Anyway if you're thinking that the fact its a game that does a monthly subscription is going to be the deal breaker then go with Guild Wars.

It might get old, maybe because it's true.

I guess some people have trouble facing the fact that they are obsessed with some fictional character within a game. I know, it's addictive. :3 But still.
