Hello gamers

I want an xbox 360 but I don't need a special pack with 2 games for way too much money so I want to get the 'arcade' version anyway my friend said it can't run normal xbox 360 games , I said it was bullshit but whatever I need to ask to be sure

Can the xbox arcade run games the same way as normal versions (the 256mb memory is irrelevant)

Any Xbox360 is the same as any other, the package you're purchasing is just difference in memory, as far as I'm aware.

I think there used to be minor differences in architecture but I believe - could be wrong - that was just a result of models literally coming off the production line at different dates.

Edit: I would definately recommend looking at getting a decent sized HDD for the console, though. A lot of the use I get out of my 360 simply wouldn't exist without storage space... Arcade games, DLC etc.

It's exactly the same, but has no hard drive on the side and the memory card.
you also get a disk with xbox arcade games on.
And it's cheaper.

Edit: Some games require the Hard Drive to play. (add-ons require the Hard Drive.)

I doesn't come with an Ethernet cable, any type of HD hookup, is incompatible with any Original Xbox game (unless you get the update (at least I think so)), and I've heard that it's more likely to RROD then the other versions (though that could just be a myth), and it doesn't have a hard drive, only a memory card. If none of that matters to you, get the Arcade. Otherwise, I'd say Pro might be the best deal.

The "arcade" pack also comes with, funnily enough, a few classic arcade games. Or that's what my friend got when he bought his.

No different. Just no hard drive. It comes with a memory card so you can save games. There use to be an application where you could get a 20 gig hard drive for free because the updated operating system required a hard drive. (I would google that to see if they still do it) Don't know if they still do that though. Reguardless, if you are going to be online, you kinda need a hard drive. Don't know what small HD's go for, but I would get one. But here is an OLD link to the free HD - http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/hddoffer/default.htm, as I said, don't know if they still do it.

As to RROD, that is not model specific, it is chip set specific (allegedly). The Jasper chipset is the newest and there is a very high probablity that an Arcade bundle will have a Jasper (the Jasper is cheaper to manufacture). But you can check the amperage requirement next to the 12V power. If it says 12.1a then it is a Jasper.

It is an xbox 360 without the hard drive, just buy it and get a hard drive when you can afford it, til then use the memory card to save your games.

You can buy a hard drive separate. An official Xbox 360 hard drive can cost around £70 but I bought some tacky chinese thing on eBay for cheap and the only difference is theres no Xbox engraved in like my friend's hard drive
