Hello fellow escapists, as a few of you might recall I posted a topic regarding Game Releases, in an attempt to further contribute a unique topic among the masses of Vs threads and Spoiler threads, I came up with this idea.

So, you are the new C.E.O. of Activision, one of the industry's largest, oldest and most profitable companies out there. For as long as you are in office, Activision shall follow your directions completely. This is your chance to make huge changes or none at all, or maybe to set up a lucrative swiss bank account whilst at it. :D

What is your new focus? Do you think Activision needs to delve into a new game genre? Or maybe this is a good time for some healthy PR? How about settling that Infinity Ward case? And so on and so forth. It will be interesting to see fellow escapists show what they can do. ^^

Now then Sir, what is to be your first order of business?

This:
"Stop releasing ludicrously priced editions of games and give the crowd what they are paying for!"

Also, backing off Blizzard and letting them do what they do best, and thereby stop annoying their rather large and informed fanbase.

stop pumping call of duty, make something else for everyone to spend their money on, then when they forget CoD was milked to death, go back to it and do it right this time. also, let blizzard do whatever they want, they'll make money anyway. and NOT 'go for the pc crowd' that's just dumb, seeing how the consoles are a huge part of their income. and who cares if the pc crowd likes me for it? they're not going to buy so much more from me to make up for the loss of console customers.

Where is the "axe CoD" option? It's literally the only thing that would do the industry any good at this point (within Activision's power).

I would force every single developer to produce Call of Duty games. Yes, including Blizzard. That way we could release a new CoD game every four months or so.

It would be totally awesome.

Mm... Artistic integrity and respect for my customers or a giant Scrooge Mc.Duck money bin that I can go diving in?

Money bin it is! I'll just pay someone to pretend to care about the other stuff while I'm busy sun-tanning on my own personal yacht accompanied by a harem of beautiful women all equally enthusiastic in their attempts to pretend they love me while secretly eyeing my money. Then when I'm bored of owning everything I'll donate a relatively tiny fraction of my fortune to charity or something so I can then retire as a praised 'philanthropist', maybe do something nice for gamers like fund whatever indie project is the latest craze or whatnot and get a bit of love from them too.

Yep, got it all planned out. Gonna be great!

Butthis is actually what the WHOLE industry should do, not Activision in particular.

I suppose it goes with the try something new option :)

EDIT: @ CleverNickname, sorry it would not quote for some reason.

I order my minions to make my wet-dream FPS, then bring as much money as possible with me out of the company as I left it to spend it all on an awesome home, a Toyota pickup and a small mountain of clothes and airsoft...

They aren't that informed if they think Blizzard is totally autonomous.

That said, I chose option 1. If I'm the CEO of a billion dollar corp then I've got legions of shareholders and board members to appease. My products sell like hotcakes so I'll continue down the same path while seeking new investment opportunities.

Release Pitfall, Freeway and Boxing on current gen systems and charge full price for it.

Laugh, sit back and watch what happens.

hand the keys over to someone else- I have neither the qualifications or savvy necessary.

But it we assume that this happens after a lifetime in business then try and crank out something new, retiring CoD would be step number 1- FPS genre is over saturated at the moment.

That is exactly what I mean, Blizzard isn't autonomous, and have suffered for it. Which is why I think that Activision needs to back up a little and let Blizzard work.
