Poll: Your 2011 Game of the Year predictions:

Hey guys, as the title says, what game do you think will be awarded Game of the Year most this year. Just to clarify, I don't mean your favorite game this year, I mean which game will be dubbed GOTY by the most publications.

Personally, I'd say Portal 2's since it's the best game I've played yet, but I'm also buying into the Skyrim hype so it's hard to pick. Also note that Uncharted 3 and Batman are on one option to save space and Battlefield, COD, and Gears of War are on one option because they're all equally terrible. (/flamebait)

I kid really, but seriously, the Escapist needs to allow for more poll options. Anyone else think so?

I'm expecting Skyrim to grab most of the GOTY awards.

I'm also expecting to be disappointed at the lack of GOTY love for Dark Souls.

It's just bound to happen whether anyone likes it or not. You only have to look at previous Elder Scrolls titles to see that.

Um... Mass Effect 3 can't be GoTY. It's not even coming out until 2012.

I'm voting for Batman: Arkham City. If it's anything like the first game, a previous GoTY, Arkham City pretty much has it in the bag.

What will win? Modern Warfare 3 (it will win the public vote award anyway)

What should win? Deus Ex, Skyrim, Portal 2, Assassin's Creed: Revelations. I'd be happy with any of those.

As much as i would want it i don't think Uncharted 3 is gonna take that many GOTY awards. Not sure why i just have that feeling.

Skyrim will probably get a lot of those. It just seem like the kind of game to knab those things. I'm guessing Portal 2 will also get a lot of praise and will get GOTY from some, but hardly from everyone since most people just have that thought that nothing can ever be better then Portal 1

I'm guessing the community's GOTY will be Skyrim, but most of the awards show will crown Uncharted 3 as the king. My personal pick is Deus Ex at the moment.

I think that Call of Duty will likely see little to no love at the awards shows this year, because it is the most universally reviled franchise in video game history, especially among the people who actually care about game of the year awards shows. It's a shame, really. Call of Duty is underrated. It isn't as bad as everybody in the world makes it out to be.

2011's been a pretty weak year overall, with Portal 2 and Deus Ex: Human Revolution being the only high-profile awards-show bait so far. Other than those, Gears of War 3, Resistance 3, Uncharted 3, Batman: Arkham City and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will be the games people are talking about at award season. I doubt we'll be having another year as good as 2009 anytime soon.

Dark Souls. It's getting the promotion, publicity, and availability that Demons Souls, which was one of the best RPGs of this generation, should have had. So, it's only natural that the spiritual successor of such an amazing game will be the best game coming out this year. Dark Souls is going to absolutely annihilate everything this year in terms of gameplay, and will be second only to Deus Ex in terms of storytelling.

Unfortunately, I think I'm going to have to go with Uncharted 3. I have absolutely no belief that it should win anything, but given how much unwarranted love Uncharted 2 received I'd be surprised if it didn't do just as well.

Overall I think it will be Skyrim, Im my opinion Skyrim has alot to do to beat Wicther 2 Assassins of Kings, but I think if any game company can do it, it is most definatly Bethesda.

I would say Call of Duty as well, but ever game feels like a recycled game from the previous year. And Battlfield will constantly be compared to Call of Duty. Deus Ex: Human Revolution mght, but like me, I only bought it to hold me over till Skyrim sooo... My money is on Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Witcher 2 was big too and it was really good. Not to say Final Fantasy Dissida [duodecim] 012 was big too. And sadly Duke Nukem Forever was, but for different reasons

Other, as in Minecraft. It about time that a game that it isnt a big budget graphics fest gets GOTY. Seeing as Minecraft will officialy be released in November, that is about enough time to get GOTY. My opinion is a bit biased though seeing as I havent played everything on there except for portal 2.

ME3 isn't out until next year. I think Arkham City is going to be a darkhorse. Still, Skyrim's gonna be hard to beat. Also, GOTY awards seem to really love Uncharted, so it's gonna be a close call between it and Skyrim.
