I was wondering what everyone has, a self-built one or a pre-built one? I added Pre, then customized

and if you like, you can post you specs, weither you overclock, how cool your rig runs...ect.

I had mine built specifically as a gaming computer and to describe how it runs I'll quote my old msn message: It shall burn in hell once I kill/rape it with an axe.

I hate my computer.

Custom built mine from the motherboard upwards, works like a charm, been working a year too *dances* has cost a bit more than I think a pre-made one would have, but it has a few extra bits and pieces.

I guess mines prebuilt, but it isn't like those dell ones. Completely custom, just got someone to put it together.

2.83 GHz Quad Intel
GTX 260
ASUS P5K Motherboard
3gb RAM
Windows XP 32 bit

Pre built then customized. I don't do enough high end stuff to warrant building it from the ground up.

custom, only help was getting those DAMN PUSHPINS TO GO IN ON THE CPU COOLER
*ahem*
My rig is e2160 @3.0ghz (up from 1.8, gotta love core 2 overclocking :D), ATI 2900 pro @XT stock, an antec truepower 550W unit, and 4gb DDR2 Geil black dragon ram (I have a feeling I lowered the timings a bit, but can't remember exactly what to), The harddrive I have no idea who makes it but its 160gb...

When you say self build, do you mean like i chose the parts myself and had someone assemble it, or that i've assembled it myself?

When i bought my comp i chose all the parts myself, but seeing as the company that sold it would assemble it for no additional cost, i just let them do it to save the time.

Bought mine through Mesh computers - basically, pick the base model, then select any better/worse parts you want, and they'll customize your order. Mainly because I lack the confidence to built my own.

It was built as a gaming machine by pcspecialist.co.uk, but since it was only made in December it still runs pretty smoothly.

Intel Q9400 2.66GHZ
4GB Ram
NVidia Geforce 9800GT 512mb

Think that's all the important parts listed.

I consider Choosing the parts more important than the actual assembly, its really easy to assemble a Computer I can put one together in about 30-45 mins

Thought so, was just not sure whether you wanted to know how handy people where or whether they cared about choosing parts themselves

It depends on which one of my computers you're talking about. My desktop is all custom made, but my laptop is stock.

Custom:

Intel E6400@2.7 w/ Freezer 7
4gb DDR2 @667 4-4-4-12
eVGA 680i
1x GTX 260, reference clocked
Vista x64/Win 7 beta

It's stable up to around FSB 400 (3.2 CPU/800 RAM), but it gets warm at full load.

My first computer was a pre-built computer and was then customized afterwards, mainly so that I could learn to do it myself, then every PC afterwards was put together myself.

Forgot where I heard it but "It's not truly your rig unless the components are caked in your blood" yeah I've cut myself a few times putting together a computer.
