Poll: Your favorite Halo game

ALL RIGHT! I'll make a thread about something besides mass effect, are you happy now?

Anyway, on topic, I used to frequent the Bungie.net forums and from what I've heard it's the Halo equivalent of No Mutants allowed, so the views that I got from there were kinda biased and all about how Halo Reach pandered to the casual crowd and wasn't a real Halo game and how Halo 3 was the "Best game evar" So I decided to ask a community that was at least semi-sane this question, which Halo was your favorite and why? Personally I like Reach, the controls are simply the most fluid out of them all and the armor abilities really add to the experience.

EDIT: Oh yeah and BTW I heard that both the DMR and battle rifle will be in Halo 4, just thought that I share that tidbit of information.

I've never been a fan of Halo from a story perspective.

From a gameplay perspective, Reach had the most fleshed out multiplayer, with all the different abilities.

Reach, man. Most complete multiplayer, most fun co-op, and best weapon design. Although they were all pretty good.

I've never been a fan of Halo from a story perspective.

From a gameplay perspective, Reach had the most fleshed out multiplayer, with all the different abilities.

The story isn't exactly Shakespeare I'll give you that...oh wait yes it is, it's extremely dry. I thought that it was substantial and enjoyed it for what it was, I mainly play games for gameplay anyway, the only game that I ever got excited about for the story for was mass effect and after that kick to the balls I think I'll be sticking to gameplay for some time to come. 343 did say that they wanted to flesh out Chief's character so who knows? Maybe the new trilogy will have a kick ass story. I know in Halo 4 it really looks like they're trying to flesh out multiplayer, I heard that both the DMR and the battle rifle are coming back.

Well Halo always had solid gameplay. Movement feels great, weapons have kick and the shield mechanics allows for some very tactical gameplay with grenades and such.

My Favorite is Halo 3 but that's just because it was my first real multiplayer and FPS experience.

ODST being my second favorite because of its atmosphere and wonderful music.

CE and Reach are a tie for third, they are both fun but I never got into them.

For multiplayer (the thing the series is based on), Halo 2 is so far ahead of the others it's not even funny. Halo 2 is in my opinion the best multiplayer shooter ever made, narrowly beating out Counterstrike and CoD4.

For single player, obviously the first game is the best. It had an interesting story, an enigmatic lead character, and amazing gameplay for it's time. The multiplayer was good too, if you had enough friends for LAN parties.

Something lovely about the first Halo. I know the Flood and grey corridors with pointy arrows were over used; just being introduced to the universe was something quite special. Plus the new style of only two weapons and such. Quite fancy A.I (on heroic etc) I was a FPS PC guy in my youth, but really, really enjoyed the first Halo when it came to XBOX.

Halo 2 made me sad and angry. *shakes fist*.

For me it has to be Halo 3. Really great end to a trilogy in my opinion, plus it was pretty much the first game that I've played online multiplayer on. Besides WOW that is.

Reach for co-op Firefight and overall.

Dude the anniversary edition is fucking brilliant. There a few peeves (where the fuck are all my blood covered walls in 343 guilty spark?) but overall, it's a masterful remake of a masterpiece. CEA gets my vote.

Well, Reach easily has the best Multiplayer, but I have way too many fond memories of Halo 3's multiplayer to give Reach the top spot. Also, I liked Halo 3's maps more.

Reach had the best single player...well, I suppose CE's was pretty good, but I've yet to play the Anniversary edition. Maybe that'll change my mind.

And ODST with an honorable mention. The single was immensely fun, and I loved the atmosphere.

I always felt that even without a decent ending, Halo 2 had the best variety of levels and music. Fucking love the music from 2.

I prefer 3, I found it to be my overall favorite. I really enjoyed the campaign and found the multiplayer a lot of fun, especially the custom games. The DLC was also pretty good, the first pack added the much needed foundry and two other decent maps and was also made free.
The other packs added some really good maps, especially the legendary ones, I didn't feel cheated at all by buying it.

Odd, when I played CEA, I am positive there was blood on the walls in the enchanced, but when I turned to regular, the blood vanished.

Favorite SP/Co-op: CEA.

Halo combat evolved. The story of reach and 3 were not that good.

ODST wins in Firefight and Campaign.

Halo 3 wins in multiplayer just because it has given me the best memories and the vehicle balance was perfect aside from standard hornet and scorpion.

Reach wins best, but most bland forge.

Its hard to pick favorites in the series because each game has a different feel and its own unique set of problems that keep each game from being truly 100% above the rest. Some do certain aspects better and others far worse.

Halo Wars I would say. Not because I like Halo or RTS games, but Yahtzee had one of the funniest rants when reviewing it. Still gets me every time.
