Definitely none of those 4. My favourite hard rock band by a long way are Nashville Pussy, amazing live band.

Would call them more Classic Rock than Hard Rock(yes i am a genre freak, but Queen gets my vote just because they are that awesome. All classic rock bands awesome though, I dont think there are any I dont like.

Seriously?

I have to choose between those bands?

I've never been good at judging which music "better," and I listen to all those bands that you listed.

If I have to pick, I'm going to go with The Who. I probably listen to Queen more, but I really like The Who's songs.

I was going to say the Who, but than I thought, "Neigh, Rush FTW!" and gleefully posted it in the future.
I have to agree.

Also those bands more appropriately fit under classic rock. You can make a case for many many things to be hard rock, so anything from The Who to Alice in Chains could possibly be classified thusly. The genre seems too big for me to pick a favourite so I am going to labour under the assumption that you mean Classic Rock.

If I had to choose between those, I'd say Queen. Their songs are incredibly well structured, and the number of instant classics they had is probably highest of all bands from that period.

But for the sheer rockout value, I say Deep Purple!!

The Who, but Aerosmith is good too.

To be honest, I don't listen to much hard rock. It's on my to-do list, though.

Rush would be a decent band if it wasn't for the fact they have the worst vocalist in the history of mankind. Okay, maybe not the worst, but that man gets on my nerves.

The insane drumming of Keith Moon, the amazing bass of John Entwistle, the song writing of Pete Townsand, and the voice of Roger Daltrey, there can be no other choice!

Ah yes, that's some good 1980's rock from the 1960's/70's...

Out of your four, I'd have to say The Who, followed by or even tied by Queen. Then, Led Zeppelin, Cream, Jefferson Airplane, Black Sabbath, etc.

In terms of rock and roll today, the two best bands still working are:
Every Time I Die (from Buffalo, New York)
and
The Bronx (from Los Angeles, California).
Some people can't handle them, but they bring Rock in it's truest form - hard, fast, and dirty as hell -better than anyone else.
Just be warned - if you start listening to either band (or both!), you will immediately become completely more awesome

None of those are hard rock.

The closest one is queen, and they're glam rock really.
