Yeah, sorry, if some publishers are missing from the poll.
Very straight forward:
Publishers aren't the most loved parts of the gaming indutry nowadays, nethertheless, who is your favourite Publisher?
Mine is Paradox, without a doubt.
In my Eyes Paradox is the only Publisher nowadays that funds games, because they think they would be fun to play, not because they would get them alot of money. They are not perfect, not by a long shot.
In fact, since they tend to greenlight a lot of games a lot of their games have lots and lots of bugs, or turn out to be pretty bad.
Impire is not a good game and a game of dwarves is at best mediocre.
However, even though i bought all those games and didn't like them, i still love paradox.
Because when they make something right, they make it just SOOOOO right.
Case and point: Mount and Blade. There is no game i played so much as this. It's not only great on it's own, but it has an awesome mod support. I have like 300 hours in this game. 100 are in native, 200 are in mods, which sometimes COMPLETELY change the game, it's just awesome.
Similar to this crusader kings 2 is just awesome.

In the End:
I love Paradox, because a lot of their games have incredible replay value, and if they get it right and make something awesome, it can last you for a lifetime.

EDIT:
Again sorry for the missing vote possibilities, but you can only take 8 options in the poll. I added an "other" option instead of capcom, because nobody voted for them yet.

Paradox for me too. Sure the games they release are almost always buggy and sometimes shit, they're still the only publisher that's brave enough to fund some weird projects. Pretty much every game from them has an interesting idea, even if it falls completely flat like that Gettysburg game.

Also, they published Magicka. That's an instant 10+ points from me, that game is so inventive.

I really wanted to pick EA just to see people's reaction when they saw EA had a vote.

I picked Ubisoft. I have like almost every game of theirs I played. Assassin's creed 3 was the only one I didn't like. Far Cry 3 was one of my favorite games of last year. Also you didn't put Zenimax, my actuall favorite publisher.

ehhh...favorite publisher? that's a tough one.

paradox and sony somewhat get my vote, naughty dog still makes great games that i love and sony is "trying" to keep a relation with their customers, while *insert douchebag publishers here* would rather think of us as walking wallets that should worship them.

Despite all the shit surrounding EA these days they have still published quite a number of games that I've really, really loved so I'm gonna say EA.

Ubisoft, I know they had that DRM thing that, rightfully, upset a lot of people. But I don't THINK they do it anymore, and everything with their logo on it I've enjoyed immensely.

No Atlus, I'm dissapointed.

Out of those mentioned I guess I'll go with Paradox, they take the risks no one else does.
They often fail but when they get somethiing right it's amazing.

Yeah, my two favorites are Zenimax and Take Two. So good poll, overall.

Specifically, Take Two manages to publish a lot of games I like (like Borderlands and Civilization) without me actually having to think about them. And that's what makes a good publisher.

From the list:

1: Nintendo. High quality and no bullshit. There might be a few months between games I want, but Nintendo has never demanded I show them loyalty with online passes or Day 1 DLC or On-Disc DLC like just about every other publisher on the poll. That being said, I wish they'd take advantage of the fact that they are a publisher more often. Remember when Bayonetta 2 was announced? They need to do something like that again.

2: Ubisoft. High quality again, and plenty of original titles. I wish they'd stop the yearly Assassin's Creed games, but that's really the only big complaint I have with them. I wish I would hold the DRM thing against them more than I do, but I'm mostly a console gamer, so it doesn't bother me as much as it should.

3: Paradox, pretty much for the reasons you listed. I just don't like their games as much as the other two companies. If they were a little more consistent, they'd probably be a lot closer to Ubi.

Not on the list:

Atlus and Take Two, which would be my actual #3 and 4, respectively. The fact that it isn't on the poll makes me sad.

I'm tempted to say Square Enix (which isn't up there, but w/e) - I'm aware that there are criticisms at their practices i the Japanese and mobile markets, but as I have no experience with them I don't care. Their western-developed products, on the other hand, have generally speaking been consistently satisfying. Maybe it's just a case of ignorance being bliss - a lot of my ire towards EA and Ubisoft comes from their business practices with games which I've heard of, but often never played. For the time being, I'll vote EA - despite all the ire they garner, bad games don't concern me because I make an effort not to buy them - they do, however, manage to churn out some very good stuff, now and again.

I suppose I could also pick a publisher which has a smaller history/portfolio (i.e. Bethesda Softworks), but that seems like cheating.

Also mysteriously missing from this list: Valve and 2K.

Why isn't 2K up there? I mean (to me anyway) they have been on a roll with Borderlands 2, Xcom:Enemy Unknown, and Spec Ops: The Line. I really like the games they have been Publishing and hope they have success in the future.

That pretty much was my logic for the choice as well. Sony's had some good games too, excluding Uncharted (I will never understand that thing's popularity), but in the end, Dead Space wouldn't exist without EA, therefore they get my vote.

As far as publishers go, 2K has done pretty well lately, BioShock(s) Borderlands XCOM CivV. Pretty much any time a developer talks about 2K it's under good light and they seem to be ok with letting the devs take risks, even if they don't pan out for the best in the end.

Easily Take-Two Interactive. I don't know why that's not on the list. They're behind everything Rockstar has made and under the 2K Games label, they've published the BioShock, Borderlands, XCOM, Civilization, and Serious Sam franchises. They give developers enough time to make the games as polished as possible, and have taken risks with ideas that aren't sure-fire hits. Most notably, Ken Levine got rejected several times before 2K decided to fund BioShock and look where that went.

Square Enix have produced the best triple A games in recent years in my opinion, but since they are not on the list I suppose i will pick Paradox instead since I do like a lot of their games.
