YouTube comments irritate me. There is ALWAYS an argument/flame war. Why is everyone so angry and opinionated on Youtube? This problem is elsewhere on the internet, but it seems worst there. Disabling comments would deprive the uploader of feedback, but I really dislike watching all this hate being bred!

Lack of moderation. No one caring enough. Its the same thing that would happen here eventually if the mods team just vanished.

But seriously, is Biggie better than Pac? The world must know!

While you have a good point, I like the way YouTube is right now. Flamers and trolls should have their accounts suspended, but disabling comments on EVERY SINGLE VIDEO? I don't think that'd work well. I personally have videos there and I want comments for feedback. If my video is bad, I want to know WHY it's bad, and while some people would flame, it would at least let me know what to change for my next video.

Okay, neither option allows for actual opinions. Where's the "No: they suck, but everyone should be able to have their say" option? I don't think they should take commenting out of Youtube, as that is an incredibly important part of any website now. But I definitely don't think that they are "the very epitome of tranquility and cerebral conversation."

Yeah, I did notice that after I posted. Sorry people.

And I agree with people saying that there should just be more moderation. I guess part of the problem is that the site is so huge that that becomes nigh on impossible.

Whilst the comments are a cesspit, I don't think they should be disabled at all. People need a place to say what they think about the video, and some posts actually have good conversation in them.
Admittedly this is the severe minority, but then the videos are mostly cats, pranks and faceplants, so the comment section is actually quite fitting for the video content.

Depends.
Most of the time they are terrible, someone made fun of my religion based on a Gameplay vid i uploaded, but there is genuine discussion here and there, you just haft to look for it.

well since there is no middle of the road i had to pick yes because i have seen videos where the commentators just spew rubbish for no apparent reason

but then again its a good thing to actually be able to comment on the videos and it is a good tool it just needs to be moderated

I voted no but some things need moderation.

I just like watching people getting angry at each other for ridiculous reasons

I LOVE it when I'm listening to a song that has the smallest bit to do with religion or something, and you look in the comments and they're either "LET GAWD EMBRACE U!!!!!!" or "LOL STOOPID RELIGION, THIS SONG SUX CUS IT INVOLVES RELIZIN!". Seriously, just look under any song with a religious undertone to it.

Oh, and you'll constantly see trolls spamming "WHITE POWER LOL" or "N******!"

I just post my own. I never really read them, unless I feel like my day went a bit too well. Time for a wake up call.

I can't sleep at night without getting to read about how someone is sexually, racially or intelligently inferior to someone else because that someone disagrees or has their own opinion.

Not to mention how awesome it is I can find out about where to make mp3s of a song or see hot chicks FOR FREE!! on some other site, because I have no idea how to rip audio or find pron on my own.

YouTube comments are some of the worst things on earth. I just want YouTube videos, not page long discussions about someone's conspiracy theories, Obama's health care policies, or the insane amount of ignorance flowing from the "religious debates" which can mostly be summed up to "LOL GOD IS FAKE" and then someone replying "NO WAY GOD IS REAL." The pure amount of evidence given on both sides is too much for me to handle and I've actually reconsidered my religious beliefs because of this. But that's beside the point. When a site gets that popular and when it has absolutely no mods other than the users themselves, the community loses all intelligence and spirals out of control.

I use the comments to find information on said video (say its a tutorial one something), but when I see flame wars, I just wanna kick those people in the nads.
