Ponies? What? What is this?

Don't take this a pretentious suggestion, but what the hell is this crap about ponies and children's cartoons? My friend came to me yesterday suggesting that I watched this and attempted to enjoy it. Curiously enough, I set down and attempted to view an episode as I earlier promised... Didn't even make it past the opening.

So, what, is this a new meme, am I late to the party? I really don't see what is so great about this. Help thy, for I may be lost and need enlightenment.

Edit: Well heck, I forgot to mention the most important part(Even though you probably already knew), I'm talking about that My Little Ponies cartoon.

1: The fact that effort was put in.
2: The fact that I can say, without feeling bad about myself, that My Little Pony is good. That alone is reason to watch every second.

Yes its the latest new meme and its horribly forced, but the show itself is terrific. Just do what I do and simply enjoy it while ignoring its fanbase and the memes.

I'll try to handle this as non-fanboyish as possible
It's a show a great number of people on the internet think is good.
I for one think it's hilarious. Try skipping the opening titles first, I did the first few episodes, and look where I am now- Wait, bad example.
But seriously, try skipping the title, and you may need to skip the pilot too, wasn't that funny, it gets funny around episode four, some would probably say three, but I didn't like it, too much time spent building up a story that only re-appears in the season finale.
I typed waaay to much, didn't I?

It took me three attempts to get through the opening. I'm glad I did though, if you can get through the opening, you can make it through the whole season no problems.
