Please ignore my previous post, a much better and easier method of correcting the problem caused by ad blocking software on The Escapist would be to add The Escapist to the Allowed list in your ad blocking software.
I should have mentioned this in my previous post. I do not advocate ad blocking The Escapist. I generally find the ads on The Escapist to be informative, useful, and appropriate to the context of the site. However, in our electronic world there is an unfortunate potential for ad space to be abused.
There is a growing trend across the Internet of malicious advertisements that can automatically redirect a browser to other sites or even automatically install malicious software. Screening the submitted ads and weeding out those who would abuse ad space in this way must be difficult task. The crew of The Escapist has my full respect for the fine job they do.
Please remember that The Escapist provides us with access and information at no personal cost. Remember also that it costs a lot of money to run a service like this and at least some of that cost is absorbed by advertisements.
I only advocate the use of ad blocking software in so much as it is used to block malicious advertisements, and primarily on less trustworthy sites. It is unfortunate that such measures have become necessary.
