I don't understand how such awful games can become so popular. For example: Halo 3. Sure it's not the worst game, but it certainly isn't good. So, what are your most hated popular games? (Cue fanboy rage)

Halo, a good-to-average FPS, is absolutely nothing compared to Modern Warfare 2. For me, it's a huge flop - too much hyping. The game basically promised to deliver Rapture, but didn't.

And put GTA4 on that list - it's just too damn unsure about itself to be great. It dosen't know what it wants to be - gritty criminal drama or wacky parade of dead baby jokes.

Both Gears of War games. There was nothing really groundbreaking about the first game and the second was just the first game with a different setting.

I never really got into Oblivion, despite loving Fallout 3. I guess guns do make a big difference (but, to be fair, I haven't really given it a chance). That being said, I've never played a popular game that I really didn't like. I suppose I never really got what was so great about Halo, and Gears of War never appealed to me either.

Grand Theft Auto gets my vote, running down people in a car is only entertaining for so long.

Resident Evil 5. Dear god, I feel like my soul is fading away as I play it. It's so... fucking... boring. There's only so much gray/brown stupidity one person can take.

Halo? Check. GTA? Check. Gears of War? Check.

Hmmm...not much left to add. I suppose Left 4 Dead is pretty overrated. Not a bad game at all, but it's the first Valve game I haven't loved. The amount of adoration that game gets for such a shallow (albeit not bad) experience is irritating. Not as irritating as Gabe Newell shooting off his fat mouth every time he gets a chance, but annoying nonetheless.

I actually quite liked the first Halo and enjoyed my first play-through of the second one! Kinda trailed off into nothingness after that though.

I spent too long giving Oblivion a chance it didn't deserve, I don't like Zelda, WoW and Time Crisis, or Bioshock.

As I say every time this comes up, Call of Duty 3, 4, 5, and 6. THEY'RE MEDIOCRE. 5 is lucky to even be called that.

I'd rather play Halo over Call of Duty any day.

I bought RE4 knowing nothing about it except that it was universally praised. I played it for 20 mintues then sold it back to GameStop.

Why in the world do you have to stop moving to shoot? And why is the 2nd analoge stick practically useless? Aren't these just a dumb ideas? I sold the game back because I refused to put up with it absurd control scheme. Although, maybe I was to harsh and should give it a second go. But seriously, what the heck?

I knew nothing about GoW until my brother showed me a gameplay video. I sat down to watch it only reluctantly at first but as soon as I realized you could take cover I knew I would have to get the game. Now combat would no longer break my suspension of belief so badly.

The cover system drastically changed combat in shooter games. I'd call that ground-breaking.

Edit: double post, my bad

Most FPS for me. They're all the same for the most part and repetition is boring as hell. Also Western RPG's because they are just so bland... outside Fallout 3.

Modern warfare 2.
I really dont see how it can be so popular, people say its got great multiplayer, now i have played it, but to me multiplayer does NOT make up for a 6 hour campaign that wasnt even that good, i preferred CoD4's single player over MW2. I enjoyed watching it not win game of the year at the VGAs cause so many people have said its supposed to be this awesome game that seems to have its own religion now, thank fuck for Uncharted 2 and what a great game it was.

L4D2.
Again y is this so popular? It's L4D1 again with new models for players and weapons, mallee and new maps. the same thing could have been done in a dlc pack, and i really hate people raving over how good it is. Why did valve decide to do this over HL2: Ep 3, i swear if they do another L4D before HL im going to be very pissed off at them. again im glad this didnt win GOTY either. its essentially the exact same game with a new face.
you can try and try to make a person look like a supermodel but underneath they r still the exact same person.

both these games are just to much like their prequals, nothing new has been done with them or anything that makes me go WOW THATS AWESOME, they r just mediocre and i get frustrated at people who seem to praise these games like they will lead us to paradise.

/end rant
