Well if you get the ps3 version on amazon you get 5 dollars off, along with a 20 dollar amazon gift card and a code to get a free pc version.

People went head-over-heels at buying Same Generic War Shooter With Different Name for that much if not more. Why not a good game?

If you liked the first one, then yes.

If you didn't, then don't or wait for a review to see if its any good

If you never played it, then play any physics style puzzle flash game on the internet, after all this was Portal's inspiration.

Personally I wont be picking this up because I hated the first one because i hated how the last puzzles had be timed just right, and everything run in a sequence that were if your off on your game by a second you fail, in order for you to complete the puzzle in order to make it to the end.

I'd wait till the price drops, if your poor.

You should try and play it before you pay for it, so you can find out for yourself whether its worth the money.

I'd also like to chip in on the concept of value per hour.

I wouldn't put Portal up against a 40 hour game, as while I loved every minute of Portal, most games there's dips..there's 'filler', there's pointless backtracking etc.

Portal was short, sure, but that's because it was filtered.

Do you want to pay $10 an hour for Star Wars or $2 an hour for Jonas Bros 3D?

Also, on top of everything else, there's a demo for Portal 1, 'First Slice' go download it and see if it grabs you :)

Another suggestion, who's going to start the 'Looking for Portal 2 partner!' thread? I imagine there's a ton of people who'll buy it but don't know someone interested in playing with them, and it's probably better an escapist than a random net guy. I can see the multiplayer only really working the first time, with 2 players who don't know the game. The joy will be in the discovery (and dropping crushers on your partner.)

The game isn't out for another 2 weeks. How do you actually expect anyone to give you an honest answer to that question? We can't form an accurate opinion of what it's worth because we haven't played it.

The only thing I can tell you is that paying $60 is foolish. If you have a PC that is fit for gaming, you can get it on Steam for just $45. If you want it on console, go pre-order on Amazon.com. They have the 360 and PS3 versions at $55 instead of $60, and they're giving you a $20 credit to use on a future game purchase you make from them.

So only from the perspective of getting a good deal, no, you shouldn't pay $60. But whether or not the game is worth buying on the basis of it being a good and/or lengthy game... Again, it's not out, nobody can accurately give an opinion on that yet.
Ah well funny story about that because someone has played it and that someone is er me! [http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1803644]

Now to sum up the SPUF post, Portal 2 honestly blew me away. The story was really engrossing, full of well executed dialog, and full of plot twists that no will see coming. As for the gameplay, the puzzles surpass the old ones by a mind taking an approach that makes you feel like you really accomplished something. Now on the subject of length while I did not beat all of it, the single player will be 6-8 hours while co-op will be yet another 6-8 hours. So thats 12-18 hours of solid story and gameplay. Now you tell me its not worth 60USD. Oh and for the record I played the PS3 version and that also happens to be the version I pre-ordered.

Also on a more off topic note of "why didn't you post it here" well that because in the heat of things I kinda forgot, so sorry about that.

Well, that depends. If you bought Kane and Lynch 2, then you're an idiot. That aside, Portal 2 is probably worth your money.

lol, sorry I just couldn't resist.
OC: So yea, I'm getting it for 45 as well, but even if it was 60 I'd still get it. Valve has earned my trust to blindly buy any game they release.

None of us have played it. How are we supposed to know?

Why don't you wait until it's released and read a goddamned review instead of asking before the games release and thus provoking naught but fanboys/haters opinions they can only base on the first game.

I am stuck here. I can't honestly decide whether or not to part with 60 dollars for Portal 2. I FRIGGEN LOVED the Original Portal and am getting quite excited in the pants when I think of the videos I have seen on the portal website (link here - http://www.thinkwithportals.com/media.php)
So what do you think?
Is the game out yet?

If not: Reserve Judgement.

Asking whether a game is worth the price before the public's got a hands on is a bit silly.

I'm not really asking the merit of the game.. im simply asking do you think $60 bucks is reasonable. I know its going to be a masterpiece of awesomeness... but theres a little doubt swirling in the back of my brain saying "remember when you shelled out 60 bucks for Bioshock 2 and Halo: ODST and you convinced yourself those mediocre games while okay was worth the money you spent."

Go halves with a buddy and get the double pack on steam if you can,you pay 40 USD each. That's what I'll be doing...40 USD for Portal 2,I can do that. It's probably gonna be a great game and if I was in a more stable financial situation I would gladly pay 50-60 USD.Even if I was though I still wouldn't pay 50 USD for a copy when I don't have to,when,as I described above, can get it for 40...I'm rambling,to much coffee,I'll simply say this.I will pay however much valve sells it for.
