I very much like puzzle/physics-based games and want more info about Portal 2. I've seen a lot of differing opinions here in the forums and would like input from some "hardcore" gamers.

If you like puzzle/physics-based games, what did you like/dislike about Portal 2 and why?

The thing with Portal 2 is:

you come for the physics puzzles...

you stay for the phenomenal writing and comedy.

Both are executed perfectly.

It has puzzle/physics based gameplay mechanics!
Oh, and an amazing story, great humor and an unbeatable ending. That too.

Seriously man, just buy it and see for yourself.

If you've played Portal, you know what to expect.

If you haven't, I have no idea why that could be when you say you like puzzles and physics-based games :p

Yeah they say it best... Portal 2 is fantastic and will blow your mind in the story department. And as for puzzles, there are some pretty good ones. And grab a friend for some even more mind-meltingly awesome puzzles :D

I'd recommend strating with Portal 1, see if you like it and go onto Portal 2. Portal 2 is some more of the same awesome stuff but kicked up a few gears with the writing/ comedy.

The only criticism I can think of is that it isn't quite as fresh as portal 1. When the only problem is that it isn't as good as it's predecessor that's the mark of a good bloody game.

I'll agree on the "not as fresh" part, although the new stuff, especially the gels helps with that.

As for "isn't as good", now there I disagree. It's better in almost every way as far as I'm concerned. I can't think of anything it doesn't do at least as well as the first game, which of course you should play too!

It's fun as hell, in addition to having very well-executed plot twists, phenomenal writing, cleverly-designed puzzles, and a great co-op campaign.
In short, go and buy it right now.

Haven't even finished yet, and it's contender for game of the decade.
If this is true, the ending will possibly skyrocket this game into your favorite game ever. Of all time.

Honestly, I think the puzzling in Portal 2 is a tad bit worse than Portal 1. Mainly having to do with this:

I solved most of puzzles with put a portal on one of the few walls I can put a portal on, then just thought for a second and I figured it out. Portal 1 was a bit better with it since you could put a Portal almost anywhere and usually it wasn't the right place.

Still, it's excellent, and that's just a nit-pick. It's hilarious, and introduces a lot of cool stuff that Portal didn't have (mainly the gels and anti-gravity beams).

Well its a bit of a cock-slap considering most game sequels improve upon the originals. These arguments about it being "not as fresh" make no sense to me considering how different it actually feels beyond the core gameplay.

OT: Buy it.

Just buy it.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW.

Now.

Some of the jokes are re-used, and it isn't quite as satisfying as portal 1 was.

Single player was lovely, rich in writing, comedey and pacing. Also, the story gives use so much more depth than we had before in Portal 1 .

The co-op was brilliant, with a good learning curve and the new mechanics fit perfectly.

Just get it. I've only finished single player so far, but it was amazing. I liked the original Portal, but I wouldn't call it one of my favorite games. This on the other hand is amazing, I don't have any major complaints with it at all.

I would suggest playing the first one first though, it really helps make this game more enjoyable.

It's great experience with nice settings, a good story, and entertaining puzzles with a good ending to boot.

Go. Buy. Now. Fool.
