Portal 3 ?

As we all know the populer portal games have made a brakethrough makeing games fun and challenging without needing guns or violence but with puzzles that require wit and a amazing story-line to go with it but when it comes down it, No one knows what valves next game could be so rumours of things like left 4 dead 3, Half life 3, Team fortress 3 And portal 3 are all good but can Valve finnaly deliver its first third?

The question is after the sad yet spectaculer ending for portal 2 how could portal 3 begin to add in such a dramatic story and set the scene as well as it did for potal 2 so if you were to make a portal 3

-Where and how would you set the scene?
-The charecters? prehaps continue the story?
-Any new elements you would add to the game?

Well if i remember, Valve said they weren't doing anymore games with an isolated setting, so if they make Portal 3, you won't be alone.

I don't want another Portal game. Portal 2 is great, it added all the things I thought were missing from Portal 1, and I really enjoyed it. I want to play more of its interesting co-op puzzles (thank you Art Appreciation) and I want to get some good scores on the challenge levels, but I don't want a Portal 3, since they've done everything I want with the IP and the story is completely over. Taking Portal 2's ending and just tacking some more crap onto the end of it would ruin how brilliant that ending was.

Anyway, I'm not sure another sequel would be necessary, I'm happy with the ending of portal 2, and any more would seem unecessary.

Don't get me wrong, I loved Portal and Portal 2. (Still can't decide which one was better.) But I don't really see where else the series can go.

Besides y'know, Episode 3 and all that.

A Portal 3 would definitely be possible, however I still want more Half Life first!

But I don't think Valve can count to 3. Look at the number of things they have on 2, Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Portal 2, and of course Half Life 2 Episode 2 (double whammy there )

I want to know what happens to Chell after the end of Portal 2, and if she can re-adjust into normal society. Couldn't make a game out of it, but I'd love a HF2 ep3 extra or maybe an OVA.

We don't need a Portal 3. The story wrapped up cleanly. Both games were great. Give me bonus/extra level as DL content and I'll be happy.

I agree, entirely. However, I think that if it was done well, they could possibly do a prequel, something involving Cave Johnson. I do have a hard time seeing how it could be anything but really cheap, and just further rehashing of the same sort of idea, but if there's any video game writers that could pull it off, it would be Valve's.

I think the main thing that made portal such a big hit was it's orignallity. What I think valve wants to do is continue on that line and create some games which are different and original. I would love to try out another puzzle game with a very original element just like what they did with portals. Who knows what they might come out with.

valve cant count to 3.
OT: not a direct sequel, i would love to see more done with the portals and different gels in a not test area but i think the deal with chell and glados is done. maybe they should continue the plot with atlas and P-body if its going to be a direct sequel.

And no. There didn't need to be a Portal 2. Hell, all they really need to do is put out some map packs every now and then.

Well in the co op ending Glados and the bots recover thousands of testing subjects so that would be the obvious choice, or it could follow chell and what happens with her, but srsly who cares about chell, not worth losing over Glados thats for sure

I say don't do Portal 3, the story ended nicely now just let it be.

But do some expansion packs with the robots, they could essentially have an adventure with you as a robot in training and every wacko AI core.
And this time properly chalenging SP levels not those huge empty rooms clearly missing half of the intended puzzle elements...

I think that was just concept art.
Meh, Chell had enough trouble for 2 games. If she appears again, she'd be doing easy in a Valve game outside of Portal.

The co-op section basically is an epilogue to Portal 2...

But no, no Portal 3. It ended just how I wanted it, and I don't know how Valve could pull a sequel out of its ass after that ending.
