Positive Stereotypes

I was watching tv the other day and some guy was talking about how bad stereotypes are. Now some Sterotypes are negative and untrue such as French chicks are hairy and Jews are money hungry rats. But some arnt negative at all such as Gremans always being on time, Africans being excelent Athletes. Im half French half Australian and I have nothing incommon with any stereo types related to either country. So tell me some positive stereotypes

Me being an asshole aside, I can think of positive stereotypes. Like nerds getting into college and getting to flip off the jocks saying, "HA HA, I'M GONNA GET A PAYING JOB."

Even positive ones to me aren't truly positive. If you fail to live up to those, it makes you look like a failure when you are just you and not the stereotype associated to someone of your race/gender/ethnicity/religion/region/whatever.

I agree. There's nothing that's all good or all bad, so while there are 'positive' stereotypes, someone can still take them the wrong way. For example, I am supposed to be nerdy and good at maths and instead I spend way too much time gaming and playing my air guitar.

Besides, most stereotypes set you up to be judged under a certain light, and if you don't, as you say, live up to that stereotype, then you don't feel very good about yourself. That being said, I totally enjoy breaking every stereotype I can find that people'd apply to me.

But there will be some people who won't take offense in it :O. Therefore you can say that 'No stereotype is negative, someone will always not be offended by it.'
