I just wanted to post this up for you guys, as I remember some of you liked the first one. Maybe even as much as I did. I know this is all conjecture right now, but I actually saw it on the Steam news page for Republic Commando 2, so it has to have some backing/importance. God, if this really happens I'm going to be so happy...

So, for the discussion value: What did you guys like most/least from the first game, and do you really think LucasArts will make a sequel, especially considering how long ago the game was made and the major cliffhanger at the end of it.

That was a great game, and one of the greatest shooters I have played in terms of atmosphere and giving a shit about the characters.

Also... there were 4 Clone Commando's in the last game. Nower days that smacks in the face for a chance to offer a co-op campaign between 4 people...

Or 3 if they are lazy and don't find a way to replace Sev or give him an awesome survival story.

First thing I thought of to. I'd love it to be the day where Lucasarts finally starts making decent products again, plus is ended on a cliffhanger.

Wonder if it'll go into new hope era. Stormtrooper commandos would be cool.

Same here! I'm usually not a big FPS player but this game just got the atmosphere 100% perfect. The dialogue, the sound, the dark graphics, I've almost never been so immersed in a game.

I really enjoyed the first one, though the Wookies looked a little too... chunky. And the Magnaguard droids were damned hard. As a general shooter, though, it was one of the best I'd played in a long time, very well balanced for the most part.

A sequel to a game that was fun, relatively bug free (campaign mode anyway), reviewed well, turned a profit, and gave us a cherished glimpse into the Star Wars universe without the Jedi colored glasses. Throw memorable characters entertaining enemies and a tight, if short, storyline with functional shooting mechanics and a wonderful lack of copy-pasted environments...Lucas Arts will NEVER make the sequel.
