Is it possibe? Cause I know for sure you cant register a game to more than one account.
So do you have to get non-steam games for the pc?

Im not really sure what your trying to ask, its not clear to me, could you elaborate?

Are you trying to get one game on two accounts? If so it has to be a non-steam purchase that you just add onto your two accounts as steam purchased games can only go on one account per purchase.

EDIT: are you trying to give a friend a copy of the same game by logging into his account and then adding it onto his games list and then giving him back the account? if so, that isn't possible, i advise you just gift purchase it for him or tell him/her to buy it him/herself.

Perhaps the ability to sell your steam purchases to individuals, instead of keeping them confined to one account, allow them to be unlocked and redistributed.

Yeah, prolly not going to happen.

I mean, can I buy a pre-owned steam game? So I dont have to fork out the full amount for a brand new game. And could I also maybe sell them to?

Well, considering a preused copy of a file is identical to the original. So no real reason to lower the price.

Secondly.. part of why steam was created, was to eliminate the used market.

Thirdly theres really no way to detatch purchases once they are tied to an account. So in order to create a "used" market, that would have to occur first.

Steam has absolutely no incentive to do something like this, because it would just hurt their profits, so basically No. Not by a legitimate means anyway.

Honestly though, Steam has some great deals, values and sales. So it might not be as bad as you think.

No? You aren't selling a physical thing like a disc just the idea of permission to use digital property. A pre-owned game is cheaper because someone has been uglying all over it for who knows how long but your digital copy only exists on your hard drive until you uninstall it and steam is the only way to get it back.

Impossible. Once you've bought a game, it's tied to your account.

To be fair, Steam has some fantastic deals and offers (e.g. Midweek Madness, Weekend Offers), so a pre-owned games service isn't really necessary

In a word no, however steam sales offer great prices.

I feel dirty spending most the morning railing on digital distribution and the industry trying to kill the resale market, then professing the virtue of steams excellent value

And yes I feel equally retarded for quoting myself.

I'd be more concerned about Steam killing the resale market if there had been one in the UK. I've never found a single shop that buys or sells used PC games here.

Steam's standard pricing can be on the high side, but they have many special offers. Weekends, and Wednesdays are good times to look.

EDIT: based on what Tenmar said about ownership. Technically when you buy a game on disc you don't own the data on the media either, it just gives you a licence to use it, which is often transferrable to the next owner of the disc if you sell it. That's the part you can't do with a download.

Piracy killed the used PC market ages ago. The only thing I don't like about Steam is when it decides to patch my games when I just want to install them. My internet connection is very limited and drops to 56k when the limit is exceeded. It took 84 hours to patch the Orange Box. 84 fucking hours! Even then I gave up and shlepped my computer to my parent's house to leach their broadband.

No that digital copy is tied to that account forever and it can never be given to someone else what would give you the idea that you could buy pre owned games on steam?
