Pre-video advertisements

Whenever I watch a Zero Punctuation or Unskippable I have to watch an advertisement for D&D or other game I've already heard of. Are all these advertisements actually necessary?

ive never had a commercial before i watch a ZP video

But yes it is a common thing. Especially in Youtube. But its neccesery . . . .sponsorship n stuff. If The escapist website is shut down due to lack of $ i bet you would suddenly feel like watching 10secs video ads
besides most of the time there is a skip button.

p.p: Personally ive seen some rly nice ads which resulted in buying stuff so it does have some kind of purpose other than making you wait.

I much prefer ads to paying a subscription. At least the site isn't riddled with pop-ups and flash ads that fly all over the fucking place and take up half the screen (I'm looking at YOU IGN).
