Preparing for International Murder Day...

So, as a hypothetical, in the near future humanity's numbers have swollen and can no longer be supported. Facing the need to reduce population rapidly the U.N. introduce International Murder Day. 24 hours a year when murder becomes globally legal.

How do you prepare? Do you bunker down and hide or write up a hit list?

But, to answer your question, I would probably just live life as is. Even with murder legal, the majority of humanity doesn't have the lack of morality to kill somebody "just because they can". I live in a smaller town, so I'll be fine. Maybe look behind a little more often, but otherwise just live.

EDIT: No, I wouldn't kill anyone either. I have some people that I wouldn't mind being dead, but I'm not out to kill them personally.

As far as I'm aware I have no enemies so it probably wouldn't affect me much. I'd just lock my doors and wait it out.

Yeah, I would probably do that as well. I would just make sure that I have a lot of food, drink, DVD's and videogames, that way I don't have to go out and get anything. Then I would just shut the curtains and spend the day playing Persona 4 or Pokemon and watching Law & Order: Criminal intent.

I'd build a bunker and hide for the 24 hours. Then once it's over, set off a bunch of remote bombs within a 2.5 mile radius of the bunker in case any leftover enemy traps are still active.

I dunno, I don't think there's anyone I hate enough to have them murdered. And those I do hate that much deserve to live on in pain.

I would attempt to organize a televised gladiatorial combat event not unlike the various gladiator worlds in Ratchet and Clank. Guns. Deathtraps. Humongous cash prizes. Smash TV comes to mind.

I would dearly love to know what planet you are living on and where I can buy a ticket to get there. The work it takes to get away with murder and and the risk if I cock it up is pretty much the only reason I haven't killed almost everyone I've ever met.

The hypothetical didn't say you couldn't defend yourself. Frankly, regular law enforcement would be the least of your worries if you decided to bump off a ceo or world leader. Especially on a day they knew people would be coming.

I'd get a boat and go all the way to the middle of the ocean and when I see a ship I will wait for all the people on the passenger boat to kill each other and then take over the ship for myself, hey free ship.

Edit: whoops forgot to say I'd take over the ship after I killed all the survivors.

Go up to the storage rooms at the top of our house the night before, so no one kills me on the way, block the door and wait with a bat in case someone manages to get inside.

I'd rather survive than risk my life to kill some people.
