Obama can't blame anyone else for what the country is doing.
It's his job to fix it now, and so he needs to stop pointing his freaking finger everywhere and get some actual work done.
Also, who cares if he says videogames are bad? I exercise, what's his problem?
I'm within healthy weight, my balance board says so, and they're made in Japan.

*on a side note, I am the only one in my family within healthy weight.*

I will stand up and cheer if he reinstated the (please correct me on this if I mistitle it, it has been a while since it's been around) President's Fitness Award given in schools for active kids that Bush had removed. Would be great to follow those words with an action actually encouraging physical activity. But since PE is an extracurricular activity now...

He makes a good point, although video games can encourage outside escapades. I know a lot of people who started skateboarding because of Tony Hawk and Skate, I also know a lot of athletes who play sports games.

I say get rid of bullshit like Myspace, Twitter and Texting and you'll see an upsurge in people going outside to be with their friends.
More likely we'll see an upsurge of political murders of those who banned Myspace, Twitter, and Texting...taking doll from a girl is one thing, but taking crack cocaine from her is another ballgame.

One thing to note from his speech, he recognizes that kids are playing videogames. What did kids do before videogames? Play outside? No, they watched TV. If you simply take away videogames, the children will just watch TV.

The only thing that can get the kids outside is the parents. Madden football is fun, why don't you go and buy your kid a real football and see if they can reenact some of that in-game awesomeness? Hell, make it so that in order to play their games, they have to race you around the outside of your house/block first?
Now that would be pretty funny. Seeing "Unhealthy Kids" doing that anyways.

Obama said what? Why, I'm going to march right down to the White House and... *pant* I said I'm going to march right down and... *wheeze* I... I can't seem to dislodge this layer of empty pork rind bags and beer cans I'm buried under. Oh never mind, I'll just play some more World of Warcraft.

Maybe getting the youth off MySpace and Facebook is a better reform... Oh, and getting them out of McDonalds.

Right on!

Typical political BS. Everyone in the world knows that the growing decline fo the health of America's youth is directly atributed to poor parenting. But the voers dont want to hear that its their own fault. So the obvious scape goats are named. Video games, movies, music, fast food. When all it should take is 1 hour a day to go out with your kids, and leave the car behind, to go for a walk through a park. You know, those places that are green, where hobos live. Yes, they were originally intended for general public use.

But that would take too much time away from the parents. SORRY, for suggesting that adults should raise their own children, instead of not taking an active role in their own upbringing. And then crying foul years later when things dont go right. Video Games are to blame. Marilyn Manson and Eminem are telling our youth to kill each other. Its not our faults for failing as parents.

This is all typical political hypocracy, which sadly works and sells with the morons that choose to not use their brains and take responsibility for themselves, their actions and the upbrining of their dependents.

Stop passing the buck!

How so, Xvito?

Meh, semi-rhyme. Anywho, as I was saying, how so? He didn't start the Iraq War, and he sure as hell hasn't started any new ones as far I know. If you're talking aboout the Afghani troop surge, well, I'll twll that that is a very important conflict, my friend.

If your just going to spout vacuous outmoded ideas like parents taking responsibility for their children then this debate is going nowhere.

Government should be responsible for your children via other tax payers with no children and no interest in children, surely thats obivous.
/sarcasm off

oh, really? my message has been quoted a lot yet you're the first person to say that. if he's included fatty foods in the equation then fair enough.

I'll go outside the second Obama finds a cure for allergy and asthma. A 100% cure, you know, not stuff that blocks it by half, a life-time cure.

Ya I didn't see it til last night so thank Jon Stewart to adding a bit more perspective to it. I doubt most of us actuallly watched the entire speech and so we are just left with what we are told.
