Here's why this game has conflicting reviews. If you loved the previous trilogy and loved it's controls, then you will dislike the controls, if you didn't like the controls, then you will love these. I personally found this game worse than the previous trilogy, but then again I'm one of the few who loved warrior within. The reason I didn't like the controls is that it registers every single button you pressed, meaning that if you had a very very long acrobatic stunt and then accidentally pressed a button while in the middle of the jump, it will do what you pressed, which sent me flying so many times. Don't think that this game is bad tho, it kept me hooked from start to finish. The combat is mostly based around slashing your sword, elica combos and using other features such as that gauntlet of yours. But eventually it will get boring as you will start using the same combos over and over again because they do the most damage. The last thing I didn't like about the game was the no death part, or rather, the no health bar part. There's no reason why they couldn't have just put a health bar in there and let Elika save your ass when it goes down. The problem here is that fights aren't a challenge, as long as you can pull off all the quick time events and put at least 1 slash every minute or two, the boss will die despite how you get hammered. But let's get to the part why people liked the game: The story, it's definitely great and I wanted to see what happens at the end and I wasn't disappointed. The graphics, the game is beautiful, everything looks like painting of a skilled artist. The platforming, while sometimes annoying, it is very fun and this is the part where Elika shines, because the death ratio of these platforming sections are off the map.
