Everyone who watches the news knows the new doctor in Doctor Who is a female Jodie Whittaker why I don't understand is why all the hate it's been said not only in the show but by the creators, that Time Lords can regenerate into either male or female. This has not only been shown but said multiple times. In my opinion my answer is so what the only thing that matters is if she is good and you can't judge the first episode on that watch all the episodes then make your judgement.

It was all artificial outrage and controversy. No one really cared at all, and to certain groups that's a problem.
They needed the clicks and traffic that outrage brings in, so they wrote dozens of articles about how us nerds are sexist again and blah blah blah. When in truth, no one cared.

I agree with Silentpony. Doctor may be one of the oldest series around but people gave up on it in recent years. Barely any hype in nerd forums and sites. As soon as one changed came, every decided to care again but for their own petty agenda. They will forget about this in a few more days or weeks. It's selective.

If it's bad is bad. If it's good is good. The doctor has already regenerated into a woman once, and it wasn't bad.

Some people get outraged over the supidest things.

When did that happen?

In Doctor Who: The Curse of Fatal Death, a 1999 special self-parody made for charity.

According to gamer's favorite Anita Sarkeesian, the problem with the new doctor is that she isn't black and trans.
That is a serious problem, believe you me.

I mean, enough people cared that the Sun and the Mail Online ran the new Doctor's nudes, so I'm not seeing what's "artificial" about it.

Some people are hilariously butt mad over this.

I love Jodie Whittaker... it does seem ironic that the outrage is literally a pun on her name: Wit-taker? Like her casting has literally taken people's wits?

Also, I haven't forgiven the show for the Sonic Sunglasses yet. I've been thinking they needed a female doctor and probably a male companion for a little while now.

My only real complaint is that she's too pretty to be the Doctor. I kind of prefer that the Doctor and Spider-Man's Aunt May not be so distractingly fuckable. I think I would have been happier with a Gwendolin Christie Doctor.
Still, being too attractive is hardly a complaint.

Eh, people have been arguing over the issue for ages. Lots of people have decided they are very upset over this, it's not the case of drumming up a controversy that doesn't exist, casting a women in the role was controversial, whether it should have been or not.

Now, it may be the case that it's less controversial than it used to be because people have stopped watching Dr Who, or that because of this controversy was deliberately courted to get people interested again, but there are plenty of people to whom a female Doctor is a big no.

I haven't kept up with the show in a good while, so I really can't get too worked up about it. Like everyone else has said; if it's good, then it's good. But still to be honest, I don't know. Something just feels wrong about this. It's probably just because of how long the general character has been established, and especially his relationships. It's just too confusing for me.

It's all artificial outrage. People who would hate it the way clickbait types are trying to pretend have already left because of the continuous downward trend in the show's quality even sense Tennant left. I stopped watching 2 years ago because of that very reason, and given what I've seen from clips it's a damn good thing I did.

When you have a character who's description is "black lesbian" and there is literally nothing else you can say about that character, or have the show pretend there where black people in medieval England (if it was just extras due to necessity that'd be one thing, but actively drawing attention to it shows malicious intent) or that one of the most violent Popes was a woman, well at this point the new writing staff will need to make a Hail Mary pass if they want to make the show good enough to justify its own existence. Moffet did a serious amount of damage to it, and I question to this day how he managed to get strong enough connections at the BBC to get as far as he did butchering Who and Sherlock (though in fairness, Sherlock was shit from the start).

Here's hoping the new writers can do what hasn't been done in years and give us a good season, but I'm not optimistic given the ideological agenda pushing that made it shit in the first place seems to have been ramped up to 11.

Did she say that, or are you just saying she said that? I dont like her, but I also dont like the people who use her as an excuse to be sexist.

I can believe she said that, but I can believe people could lie about her saying that too.

My big thought about this is pretty much: Well, at least they're trying something different. Though if the writing doesn't get better, it's not really gonna matter. I gave up halfway through season 9(after Before the Flood) only to finally try to get through S9 recently.

Part of the problem is that I'm having a hard time caring anymore. I think the last season I actually liked was the season with the Silence(S6?). The Clara seasons have been really meh, partially because Clara is kinda grating and as much fun as Capaldi is to watch, he's not enough to keep me from noticing her or the crappy writing(The moon is a giant egg, that births a giant alien, that lays another moon of the same size because REASONS!).

I've tried writing a summary but had difficulties not letting my own biases in so that's all you're getting out of me.
And now, a gif I feel is appropriate.

Like I said, I can believe she said that, but I can believe that others use her to stay bigots. There is certainly some "taking out of context" her words.

Either way, I still hate her AND the bigots who use her as a scapegoat.

But thanks for the proof.

A character has been consistently male for 50 or so years of television. But now, in the age of obnoxious feminists whining about representation, the trend is broken. There are two ways to look at this.

They could have honestly thought this was a good idea for creative/artistic reasons. Or they could be sacrificing the quality of the show to appeal to a female audience.

If you've become cynical over years of entertainment media making terrible decisions for shortsighted reasons, option 2 starts looking more likely.

"It has always been so" is never a good excuse. Especially when we're talking about a character that has a history of changing every few years anyway.

The best I heard was "Men mad that a female Dr. Who will ruin Dr. Who for them. Meanwhile little girls still can't Google My Little Pony without safesearch on."
