As a ps3 owner, one of the only things I envy of the 360 is the ability to put in a custom soundtrack to any game. The ps3 has custom soundtracks but it has to be patched in by the developer.

The only ps3 games I have with this function activated are Warhawk, Burnout, and Noby Noby Boy.

What other games have custom soundtrack?
Why isn't it available for every game?
And what other games do you think need this function?

In truth, I think part of the 'magic' of games is the atmosphere... but that said, some games get away with custom soundtracks.

Warhawk gets away with it because it's twitch-heavy. I think Fallout 3 would work as well, but it'd have to be as a radio station.

Edit: Now I know I can do it with Warhawk, I am so putting the Top Gun soundtrack on my PS3. Anyone who doesn't think playing Warhawk with the Top Gun soundtrack (or, indeed, playing any flying game with the Top Gun soundtrack) is awesome doesn't deserve their virtual wings.

Little Big Planet now has custom sound tracks when you're in your Pod and in Level Create.
You have to access it through the start menu settings though, not the PS button (I only mentioned this because I don't know how it works for other PS3 titles that have it).

Although personally I prefer listening to ingame soundtracks, it was designed to add to the experience, why spoil that? But Little Big Planet's Level Creator doesn't have background music so it is very much welcome there!

I'm not saying it would be appropriate for every game but yes, things like fallout3 where you're wandering around forever listening to the same dozen songs. I think all of those long playing open world games need the function.
I'm not a Kenny Loggins fan but yes I should add the TG theme to my Warhawk playlist.

You are telling news to me! Now I'll be blasting Alestorm whenever I'm going to work on my level again.

Look up "Skull Branded Pirates". You won't regret it. ;)

There are more pirate bands? They're awesome.

Nothing can match Alestorm's vocals, but they're still really good. I thank you for telling me of this.

I didn't know KZ2 had Custom Soundtracks available. I can imagine classical working in it. Between classical and death metal. Some Greig and Sepultura.

Does anyone know if the function will be available for infamous? If the game world is as big and the fun as open ended as the early reviews are saying (I'm still a bit skeptical but now it's mostly based on the over-hype of the other ps3 exclusives; what I've seen is excellent but) it'll need the custom soundtrack function.
