Apparently the game is titled at a 'Survival Adventure Game,' is supposed to be set in a massive open world, featuring dynamic weather and the ability to play as any living creature, human or animal. So yay for furry fans! o.o In all seriousness, though, there isn't much information available yet on the title, given the conference just ended, but the trailer shows that instead of a 'realistic' tribal setting being used, it will likely focus far more heavily on folklore-flavors and more fantastical elements. One example was a group of humans swimming far beneath the surface to find a massive skeleton slouched on a submerged throne. o.o So yeah. WOW.

As someone who was also greatly interested in exploration being used for No Man's Sky, I have ANOTHER game to cross my fingers for now.

EDIT: New blog post written by the creator, Michel Ansen!

I'll get it out of the way now.

A wild exclusive appears!

Can't go by previous history to see if this will remain exclusive but...why is Sony getting all these Indies first? The rule is supposed to be they make it first on the PC and than get ported...how odd to see so many change it up and put it on the PS4 first.

I think it's because Sony has really been making it easy for indie devs to work with them or something like that. I mean, over half of the store for PS4 is indie titles.

Anyway, this looks awesome. Bummed it won't be on PC, for the foreseeable future anyway. The modding scene for this could be amazing. With this and No Man's Sky, let's say I'm pretty happy with my console pick.

Where did you read that you could play animals? Looks neat though. You don't often see this kind of pre history hunter gather setting and the strange fantsy makes it look that much more enthralling.

Probably assisted development costs? Not like PC has a 'platform owner,' so to speak, to court indie developers onto the platform, so short of Kickstarter, getting the money to release a title on PC first could be a bit tricky for a developer. What I am curious about, however, is how CLOSELY tied to Sony this particular title is; No Man's Sky had a timed exclusive arrangement, but that's about it because any funding aid was only partial to bolster a game already well on its way through development. If this title was fully funded by Sony, on the other hand, there might not be a PC release, in the same way Journey never saw a PC release. (Again, that is IF, I'm stating no absolutes.)

It was mentioned veeeery briefly in the Gamescom conference, but I found a corroborating article, so totally convinced I did not imagine it. x3

I just found it right when you posted. It says you can play any creature. That sounds rather fun. Though how do you balance something like playing as a wolf vs playing as a human.

This will blow your mind. Updated with a new article. Apparently 'every living creature' is meant literally... including, possibly, the ability to play as TROUT. o_O Just... TROUT! YOU BE A TROUT! *goes off to froth in the corner for a few minutes*

Anyway, I'm guessing the aims, tools and challenges vary depending on what you play as. Wolves may have the pack mentality, more animalistic desire to hunt prey in packs... humans, more solitary, but able to craft tools and weapons. Playing prey sounds like it's going to be about true survival... i.e. not getting eaten by the vastly more dangerous predators out there.

A trout.. I got nothing. It could work. I mean there was a war craft 3 map that kind of worked the same way. Oh and in the trailer it seemed like humans and animals were all working together. There is that really nice shot of the line of wolves with the woman rising up from behind them.

I suppose yeah the assisted development could be why, throwing a little money to have indie console exclusives seems wise.

Crazy sharing? Sounds like the game may have a Souls type mechanic where people can join your game as a Zebra or something.

Anyway, Trout 4 lyfe.

Speaking of Souls, have you seen the newest Bloodborne trailer? =O

This looks really interesting and it's definitely something I'm keeping an eye on. If this turns out well and the project isn't cancelled then I will gladly throw my money at these people.

Looks like Demon Souls so basically a sure buy for me.

Play as any animal, how about a duck-billed platypus? Or a Tazmainian Devil?
Tokyo Jungle beat them to that concept but don't know anything else about the game so don't know how different/similar it is, research time I think.

This looks interesting but I just have this weird suspicion that it could turn out like Spore where the scale is toned right down and features stripped. Also it seems a far off release and could maybe end up like Last Guardian. Sorry about he pessimistic attitude but I just can't get hyped about it until much closer to release date and more info is released since it sounds like the developer is going far beyond what they can actually do.
