Ever since I started college I have been using public transportation to get back and forth from classes. Now, if you've ever had to use public transportation, you know that you see some pretty interesting things. For example today I got on the bus to go home after my final exam and there was a rather crazy looking fellow holding a statue in one hand and stroking its breasts with the other.

Another time I was heading home and at one of the stops there was a man who attempted to get on who was wearing nothing but a red dress shirt which he was wearing on his head, hiking boots, and blue briefs. The bus driver just gave him a look and told him that he couldn't get on the bus without clothes on.

So what stories do you have about using public transportation?

I was sat near the end of a bus with my friend, when all of a sudden this guy started cutting her hair in huge slashing movements. Suffice to say she went from having back length hair to a bob in around 10 secons. That was... interesting.

I also happened to be on a bus where this 40 something man started going... crazy, ending with him smacking this girl's face into the back end of a chair, breaking her nose and then him running off into the night. Other interesting tales range from having 2 bricks thrown through the bus windows in front of me, somebody spilling hair moose down the bus and turning it into a skating rink, a group of people inconspicuously smoking weed and somebody throwing themselves out of the emergency exit while on a hugely busy road.

Don't move to the North West. Or England for that matter. It's horrific.

In my home town I tend to avoid public transport. Before I had my car I could easily walk everywhere. When I had my car I tended to drive most places...now I don't have a car I tend to walk again.

At uni however, I get the bus around. And, as it's in London, the Under/Overground.

I'm not a fan of public transport.
I mean, you do meet all kinds of people. The other day on the Metro line, these two chavvy women came on. They couldn't have been older than 25. One had a baby. They sat next to my friend and myself, and commented on my friend's broken shoes (he's a skater so...yeah). He said he was a student and, jokingly, said he couldn't afford any new ones. They went into detail about how they'd spend their student loans on alcohol and drugs. Anyway, the conversation moved on to accommodation, and my friend said how he has a shared bathroom. This is when the conversation deteriorated even more. One of the girls looked blankly at him, and then said, with a serious face "don't you worry about getting AIDS?"

Ahem.

My friend and I just looked at eachother.
Ah, the intellectually inferior.

They made a lot of other...comments...but I can't be bothered to write them all out. You get the point.

Were you on the bus headed towards a lunatic asylum or something?

I once saw a guy two seats in front of me with his hands down his pants. He was watching the girl sitting in front of him. That was kinda uncomfortable.

I've also been hit on by a guy who seemed pretty confident of his chances. When I politely brushed him off, his friends ridiculed him. After that they were trying to encourage him to try again, saying how I looked just like his type or whatever. It was really awkward and it was hard to pretend I had no idea what they were talking about. :(

I was on the Boston T once, riding the green line, and a guy got on at science park and announced to everyone on the car that he "can't be tamed".

Here's another one (I have a lot). So I'm sitting at the bus stop waiting for my bus to take me to class, and this old guy comes up to me and starts asking me a ton of questions about country music. I was somewhat polite and just kind of nodded when he said something, but mostly I just went on listening to my music and watching for the bus. So I'm almost completely zoned out when my iPod dies and I am thrust back into reality, just in time to here him start to talk about how all atheists should be killed because they are all Soviet spies, and of course, being an atheist, this was rather frightening and awkward for me.

I was also on a bus when it got into a wreck a few months back. We were almost to my stop when a white van ran a red light and went right in front of the bus that was going very fast. We hit the back of the van and kept going for a few yards before the driver stopped the bus. No one was hurt besides some people falling out of their seats and the person in the van getting a concussion due to hitting his head on the steering wheel.

Wow. xD

Old people on the bus are sometimes hilarious, sometimes annoying, and sometimes plain rude. But almost always provide some kind of entertainment.

I've also had the old guy trying to talk to me while I had my earphones in. It's so hard to be polite when he's being so annoying. >.<

Also had an old couple making disapproving noises when I gave my girlfriend a kiss on the bus once. Thankfully they didn't go further than the noises and judgmental glares. :p
