We've pretty much all got one...a series we want to stop. It's run its course, it's given us the entertainment we crave, but it's time to give it a respectful burial and move on with our lives rather than dragging out the corpse every time its producer needs to make a few more bucks.

What series would you like to see end?

For me, I'm going to have to say Final Fantasy. Not only have the games steadily been going downhill after FF 10 (and yes, I liked that game), but the name has become horrendously polluted by the substandard quality of the recent offerings. If Square-Enix is going to pick itself up off the ground and survive, they need to focus on developing a NEW brand, not trying to save the old damaged one.

Definitely Crash Bandicoot. The first 3 games were brilliant and even the Mario Kart rip off was alright, but now...
They need to take the poor guy outside and put a few rounds in the back of his head.

Fallout, now this hurts to say, because the originals are both on my top 5 games of all times, but after 2 we got brotherhood of steel and tactics, now i did enjoy exploring fallout 3, but the actual game (story and gameplay) bored me, new vegas did improve the gameplay slightly, i really dont know why people praised its story, and most importantly it was incredibly boring to explore, it was the oblivion to morrowind in that aspect.

the universe of fallout is incredibly interesting and it seemed like it still had 2 or 3 good games left in it, but they just cant seem to get it right and i wish they would stop convincing me otherwise.

i never really liked the third (edit; i loved the third, i was thinking of "The Wrath of Cortex" the third one i played, i didnt play 3 until 4 or 5 years later), but do they still make crash games? i dont think i have seen one except from maybe the odd crash cart since the beginning of the ps2 era.

Pokemon. This series has been going on since my little brother was a wee little thing and now he's a police officer and bouncer at a strip club. And comparing the games of today with the originals, there's been no relevant upgrades to the series. Lets add a few new pets and call it Pokemon: Candy Apple and a few others and call it Pokemon: Digested Poo. Yup, there's another two years of getting paid without actually contributing to the gaming world. And with that, my rant is done. Thank you.

I believe a large part of it is probably due to the seemingly overwhelming consensus that the latest Final Fantasy games have been of incredibly poor quality. (Can't say I liked XIII, but I found X, X-2 and XII to be rather charming games if you ask me.)

I'm not going to say Call of Duty purely because it'd be redundant at this stage and as much as I'd like to say Devil May Cry, I have to admit, I'm somewhat interested in how the new reboot will play out.

I don't know if any more are being made, but sod it, I'll go for Command & Conquer, seriously, I don't remember there being a legitimately good C&C game since...Probably Tiberian Sun.

Please get rid of the Battlefield series. Also, get rid of Valve as a company...

Yeh, I think there's been around six released since the racing game. I wouldn't bother checking them out. You can get the same experience by jamming pencils into your oesophagus.

Grand Theft Auto. I've enjoyed this series since the top down original on the PS1, but San Andreas was the peak. Rockstar make great games, they're great at world building and story telling, but GTA just feels like more of the same these days. Let Saints Row take over the urban crime sandbox (it already has for a lot of people) and put that development time and money into genuinely grown up games.

Speaking of which, Guitar Hero and Rock Band need to go. The first few games were fun but there's been barely any evolution, particularly with Guitar Hero.
lorly? cuz rock band didnt get new instruments or anything....

Thank you! Thank you thank you thank you! Sure XIII was a dive, but that doesn't mean the franchise is dead. Far from it. And sure, games like X and XII didn't have the typical final fantasy touch (which is 90% nostalgia btw) X and XII were still good games. I hope one day my kids can play new release Final Fantasy games as I did.

I'm fine with Valve, but I just want people to stop overhyping their mediocre games. And I want them to drop DotA. I think we should get rid of Steam though, or at least give it healthy competition.

Left 4 Dead

first game was good. intense and occasionally pant-wetting in atmosphere. 2nd game could have been released as an expansion pack in reality, and now there's a 3rd game apparently confirmed.

hmmm, nope there is no game series I would want to end, because I don't have to play them, people clearly like them so why should I spoil their fun and there is always the chance for improvement and innovation as the series goes on, if it has ended then there is no such chance.

Really?

I actually enjoyed Left 4 Dead until it became repetitive, but even now it's still a good way to bust stress. I did buy the second game and preferred it, they were obviously trying to change things up, but it still eventually became tiresome and repetitive.

If they do it so that it doesn't become tiresome and repetitive, I'll be impressed, but I don't see it happening.

EDIT: Link I post removed. It's too late at night for me to understand satire straight away. Remains unconfirmed.
