Question About HUDs (Particulary in Multiplayer)

Does there really need to be this much shit on the screen?!

Multiplayer:

And god forbid the news ticker pops up.

Singleplayer:

And this is not a problem only in racing games.

Does all that stuff stay on the screen even when you are actually racing? If so, that is seriously nuts!

I wouldn't even try to play that splitscreen. Geez.

I like my HUDs nice and simple. Too much stuff on the screen is distracting. In multiplayer or otherwise.

I don't think it is all necessary, and could be accomplished by a pop up screen.

I like how Metro 2033 doesn't even really have a HUD.

Split Second is probably the most simplest racing HUD I've ever seen. The game is good too!
