Question for fans of Green Lantern comics

So, is there ever a Lantern hero that is shown to be more...fluid I guess, with the use of their ring power? Because while I don't read the comics, and only see snippets of tv shows and the like, they always seem to be very unimaginative about the usage of their powers in combat. A big massive fist, or some gun (apparently the movie did this), etc etc. I just, in my head, I'm picturing someone who is very skilled at various martial arts, and who incorporates the ring power, and it's complete versatility into a combat style that would be awesome to watch, and terrifying to fight.

Has there ever been someone like that given a ring?

Kyle Rayner was way more imaginative with his ring than most Lanterns. For instance, one time they needed a machine that turn sound into light or something, so he imagined one. But I don't think there was ever a Lantern who does the particular thing that you talk about.
