I wish to make a review for the Warcraft movie in the User Reviews forum and as I am currently writing it I realize its gonna be a long one but I have to make it as detailed as possible.

So how much can a single post contain?

Quick answer - try to post it and if it fails, split it in two. Repeat until it works.

...this might take a while.

For a real answer, I have no clue as I've seen some pretty damn long posts.

Also, not to discourage you, there are very few people that read the Reviews in there and even fewer that respond to them...that's a lot of work for the couple dozen people who read them.

As far as I know there's no character limit to forum posts. Certainly I've never seen a review that was too long for the website.

I've never encountered any hint of a length limit. That said many posters skip walls of text, of course.

In some of the deeper, more in depth OP's I've read the OP would use spoilers to compartmentalize info and statements in order to avoid having a post that just goes on and on and on like the Energizer Bunny. I've rarely seen comments that were as long, though that wouldn't be a problem.

Have fun! :)

Which is exactly what I did in my OP of the thread I posted just now.

The Synopsis and the critique are especially long.

That's not a problem. It is in the wrong Forum, though. Can you suggest a reason it shouldn't be moved to Reviews?

Shamefully tippy worried me that no one barely looks at or respond to user reivew threads and I want to have a discussion of the review aswell because it was a long time writing it and I don't want to feel like I wasted my time.

But if the Forum Rules are that absolute with no exceptions than you may move it to the User Reviews.

I recall hearing long ago it was around 60,000 characters.
Or it may have been 10,000 characters.

...
Test it, let us know.

Tippy is correct. The User Review forum is a desolate, untraveled realm.

If no one else moves it I'll get around to doing so after I get back from a shopping trip.

Tip: If you want activity and attention sufficient to draw discussion then you quickly alter the title and add discussion triggers write it up and present it in a way that pretends to be a discussion rather than a matter of fact review.[footnote]Hint-hint-hint.[/footnote]

I'll be back sooner than later.

There is actually a character limit, I've experienced it before when attempting to post a long and detailed OP for an RP. I can't remember off the top of my head what the exact number is, but it's large enough that you aren't likely to run into it on this sub-forum, it may be 50000 or 60000 characters.

well I can copy paste the script of the bee movie in here and preview it with no issues
the issues only show up if I try and put it in a spoiler box

The limit is around 60k, but apparently when editing it's higher. Tried posting 65k text file and it was apparently too long, shortened to about 60140 and it was accepted. Edited the comment and pasted the initial 65k and it was accepted. Tried posting the 65k again and it was rejected.

And there you go. Can't be bothered with more testing than that.

I think someone posted the entirety of John Galts speech.

So pretty long.
