I started this thread on three forums, two were very successful, the other was successful till some buggerc**ts of a Christian Republican and an Otherkin Femnazi took part.

Basically post a random fact, scientifically proven.
If you believe someone is wrong post a correction and provide a scientific reference as a link.
It won't erupt into flame war, unless Jesus Bush and Galadriel Greer turn up again.

The usage of a chemical known as Mannitol was once used during a surgery to remove polyps that had the potential to evolve into cancers from the human bowel in 1979. After one particular event it was discovered this can lead to a possible fatal bowel explosion. T
he chemical Mannitol sucks water from the blood and flushes it out the bowel. This process is used to inflate the bowel and stretch the folds in the inner lining.
Some people have bacteria which is able to convert the water into Hydrogen. Hydrogen in mixtures of between 4% and 74% will explode when it mixes room air. During a particular surgery there was a spark from either the light used, or the wire which had encircled a polyp which led to the ignition of the gas and the subsequent explosion which led to a prolonged and painful death.

Thus it is possible to kill yourself by lighting gases from your Arse!

One cubic meter of sea water (density) weighs about 1025g/cubic meter (1.025kg) thus the Atlantic weighs about 363,567,500kg (363,567.5t). 0.0035% of this weight equals 1,272.49t.
