The gunman who has declared war on cops in england has been cornered. It's live on channel 501 for those with sky. I may have this wrong and this may be someone else but I rushed this because I think everyone should know.

Why have I never heard of this man ever?

Well, noting that he seems to be a "Fight authority for the sake of fighting authority" kind of person, good to see that things are going wrong for him.
Well to be fair, you're an American, not English so you've an excuse :p

Theres already a thread about this but whatever, it's disappeared.
The police have him in their sights and he has a gun to his own head. They're trying to negotiate with him I think.

I'm just glad they found the prick before he hurt anyone else. 1 person dead and 2 seriously injured is quite enough already.

Wonder if they'll successfully negotiate with him, or if he'll just slot himself?

Wait... Who is this guy and what has he done? I feel like I've missed something important.

Gunman in UK, got out of prison, killed his ex's new man, and wounded her and a policeman. Then declared war on the police and was missing for a week. Police closed in on him outside a village after finding evidence and now have him cornered.

That's who. Actually not anyone important, except to the people he affected in the past week, but the media do like to make a big fuss about these things ... even if they probably shouldn't [http://www.independent.co.uk/opinion/commentators/johann-hari/johann-hari-did-the-media-help-to-pull-the-trigger-2020927.html].

Sky called him the Most Wanted Man in Britain.

Considering the fact that technically he only killed one person and wounded two others, compared to them serial killers, I think Sky is over-exaggerating things.

Sensationalism for the masses. Rupe told me it worked. I'll congratulate him over our next game of Bridge.

The last article's interesting :) Dont know if their figures and all that are true, but interesting nonetheless :)

Still, this kind of thing (a huge armed police manhunt for a fugitive gunman) is pretty damn rare, if not unprecedented, in the UK so the large amount of media coverage is understandable.

Again, it's more about the huge scale of the hunt for him I think. As you say there have been higher body counts, but never really this much police response and stuff.

So he declares a macho, angry war on the establishment yet after all that (thankfully) only injures one policeman and ends up with his own gun against his head...what a pathetic idiot.
Well he injured a policeman, his ex girlfriend, and shot another man dead. But yeah you're right about the last part :p

Oh for Christs sake, they've been trying to talk him into giving up for over two hours now. Rolling news is getting desperate, they're talking to people that have just turned up on their bikes!

He's written a huge letter, admitting to all crimes. Why not just shoot him now and save our tax money. I'm pretty sure a single round costs less than 100+ cops, dog units and snipers!

Hmm, don't understand why they didn't just shoot him down straight away and be done with it.

All we need is one sensible person with a megaphone, shouting "do it ya fucker, blow your own head off"!

For an armed stand-off, it's really really boring. The reporters aren't helping though, you can see them desperately trying for the 'reporter of the year' award as the dullest exciting event in history unfolds.

Bring in Sheriff John Bunnell, we need some dramatic commentary!

So is it only in the movies that they can shoot him in the leg or something and thus probably keep him from killing himself? 'Cause that seems like a pretty good plan to me...

I just can't help but imagine some idiot from say news of the world getting around it just to make him open fire on the police etc.

In many ways, i'm happy it's boring. Boring means no ones getting killed.

He has a shotgun pointing at his own head and he's surrounded by snipers. There's only one person likely to get killed......and that result would be best for everyone.

Well, they did sorta kinda miss out on the Cumbria shootings a few weeks ago, which might help to explain the mass over-sensationalism about this loony.

Cos they are police. Their job is to bring him in alive for trial etc.

If he was shooting at them or others then that would be a different story and no doubt they would fire on him. At the moment however, the only person he's pointing a gun at is himself.

They could shoot the gun from his hands. Not sure if our marksmen are pr0 enough for that though :p

I didn't know that until just a couple minutes ago, the news seems to only like saying so much information at a time so they can pat it out. God their on about facebook now.

In this situation I now realise theirs little chance of him being even able to aim at the police without being killed, let alone shoot at them.

What I can see happening now though is him killing himself, and then for months people saying 'the police did it, he put his gun down' etc etc, you know giving the police a bad name.

If they did just shoot him though, no one would care as much.
