Rarest stuff you've seen or caught in a Pokemon game

Everyone's at least seen a shiny (red Gyarados really shouldn't count for this), but how many people have actually caught them?

I caught a silver Slugma in Ruby and a green Zubat in Emerald, but both have been lost to the ravages of time, my cousin, and myself. I also saw a turquoise Feraligatr and a green Espeon in the battle towers of FireRed and LeafGreen, which really pissed me off.

However, in some poetic justice, in Platinum, shortly before I challenged the first gym, I caught a Machop with the Pokerus.

So, Escapist, what tales of rare Pokemon do you have to share?

I have a shiny Rapidash on my Heartgold save. Cool, huh?!

Shiny Rayquaza.

Yep, a black, shiny Rayquaza. I didn't even know it was shiny. I just thought the game was broken.

SUPER EDIT: I now know that the Rayquaza that I have captured is rare. I feel special now.

You know, I have honest to god never even seen a shiny. I've played every pokemon game up to sapphire at least twice, and I haven't found one. I'm not even sure they exist.

I have never, in all my many years of playing pokemon (Ever since yellow), encountered a shiny. And that makes me sad.

When I saw my first shiny (a Seaking iirc) I thought that the game had gone corrupt or something and just ran away. The second and final shiny I've seen was a Ponyta (looked sexy) and I think I caught it (can't remember)..

I never encountered a shiny before, but my sister managed to capture a shiny Mightyena. As far as shinies go, a golden Mightyena is pretty cool.

I caught a shiny Zubat and PokeRus on Crystal, and encountered a shiny Koffing in Fire Red, which I missed catching due to friggin' Self-Destruct. I caught a shiny Magicarp in Emerald (just in front of the door of the water Gym), and evolved it into Gyrados long before Heart Gold and Soul Silver were announced. And I have a shiny Geodude that I caught in... Pearl, I think.

I seem to remember catching something on White, but I can't remember what. Gonna go check.

I caught not one but TWO shiny Tentacool back in Pokemon Ruby (the second one appear some time after the first shny). I raise one in my team and evolve it into Tentacrul and I kept the second one intact. I waiting for a day I would trade it for a rare Pokemon.
Also I could of capture a shiny slugma in Diamond but the stupid AI fainted it. This was in that cave with Heatran inside and you were force to pair up with that NPC. Also rubbing insult into injury I found out later that you can attack the NPC Pokemon which I could of OHKO it and capture Slugma afterward.

Never saw a shiny in my life. Did catch a Misingno though, they're pretty weird.

At one point I was hatching eggs for some pkmn in Diamond iirc and didn't even notice my Charmander hatched slightly off colour. Then he evolved into a badass black dragon. was well chuffed.

I've never caught a shiny when I played pokemon unfortunately.

I've caught a couple of shiny Pokémon but something I noticed was on Diamond, I picked a Piplup as a starter and didn't realise until about 5-6 hours in that it was female when my friend pointed it out to me and asked "How many times did you restart to get a female Piplup" and I just looked back at him and "I didn't, this is my first time".

I am still surprised to this day.

i have found a shiny pidgey once when i was playing pokemon silver. unfortuanlly i just started the game (for the fourth time). so i didnt have any pokeballs yet.
yeah i know...the world is unfair
luckely i did catch a few chanceys in the safary zone of pokemon blue

I caught a seaking in Pokemon blue that could use waterfall but that's about it (nobody believed me and I'm not sure I ever got around to showing anyone...you can catch them by surfing in front of that cave in cerulean city)...havn't played since silver/gold and never caught a shiny other than Gyarados, but once saw some kind of shiny evolution of geodude (I forget which).

Tell me about it, wasn't sure that i'd ever seen a shiney before much less caught one and I stumbled across one through breeding. Seen a few since but nothing nearly as exciting as that story.
