I think I speak for everyone on this site when I say we are all Nerds, and what, pray tell, do nerds do? They collect! Specifically the cremé de la cremé of the Nerd collector will purchase things harder to find or rarities or anything worth a little more than the unwashed masses will find at their local Hot Topic. Well this thread is for that asshat with a first-edition Spiderman. Granted they're probably not asshats but gloating about it will make your hair stand on end.

For me, I have the $5.98 EP: Garage Days Re-Revisited and an original version of Street Survivors. I'm also eying a rather intersting find: An out-of-print CD of Kill 'Em All with Am I Evil? and Blitzkrieg on it.

I looked at and kind of wish I had bought a first edition Gygax signed Deities and Demigods. I settled with two copies (much cheaper) of the second edition, which still have the Cthulu and Melnibonéan Mythoi.

I have a friend [of sorts] that has Lego piece that hasn't been made since the 80s. They can be bought online for about a buck for one, whereas a simple 2x4 Brick costs 5 cents a piece. So it's very rare and quite expensive, in Lego terms.

my friend gave me a xmen # 7 the first introduction of magneto and dr xavier to sell for him. at the time I was really into comics. I told him I would try to find a buyer. knowing that it was worth a lot more then I would ever get in town I decided to keep it for some time, then give it back and tell him to keep it due to its value as a collection piece. latter my friend died in a horrible car crash and bled out before the ambulance could get to him.

Kinda off topic, but what pisses me off are the leeches who prey on that.

I lost my copies of my old Charlie Brooker books a while ago, and I've tried to replace them, but they're out of print, bear in mind they were like £10 new.

Currently his 'Unnovations' £106.95 for a SECOND HAND copy.

and his 'TV Go Home' is going for a minimum of £45-90, again, second hand.

I tell ya, if I win the lottery, I'm buying the rights, getting em reprinted and selling em for £5.

You see the same crap for games tho, old SNES games like Secret of Mana for over £100.

I know the economic laws of supply and demand, but damn, there's making a profit and there's plain screwing people. Of course, no=one is forced to buy stuff, and that's why I haven't replaced my lost books, not at £150 for 2 old second hand books.

I have one of the original Donkey Kong Game and Watch systems.

I have no idea if it's rare, or how much its worth, but eh. I'll hang onto it for a few years, let it mature, etc.

You mean vinyl. Well is there anything special about them? Is it a first-edition or an out-of-print? I'm asking this because I know for a fact that they re-released Kill 'Em All and Ride the Lightning on vinyl recently.

I have a huge collection of Beanie Babies, including the extremely rare Queen Victoria bear, and the Ty Thank You bear, which was given out only once to retailers that carried Beanie Babies. Luckily my grandmother sold them in her store, so we got one, and my mother gave it to me as a birthday present.

That does suck balls. Good luck with the lottery. But I've seen the same situation over here in the states. They sell a Vinyl edition of Show No Mercy for $130 [I'm guessing like 100 pounds]? Fuck that shit!

I don't know how collectible people think this is, but I have an original issue Fender Jag-Stang which was Kurt Cobain's signature model.

Impressive :)

I only have the one, a chameleon called "Rainbow". Although my brother has the igauna called "Iggy" and they have the tags the wrong way around, his says Rainbow and mine says Iggy. Supposed to be slightly rare.

I've decided to start collecting all of the Amiga Power magazines, purely for it's sense of humour. I only have the one, but I keep re-reading it, so I'm going to scour eBay constantly. This is my quest.

An emerald encrusted sword I had made for me by one of my various uncles, he's a metalworker for a company that makes replica swords and stuff for movie props. It's pretty cool, I had it custom made. It weights officially a heckuvalot though so I cant really lift it. Its on my wall on a plaque.

Through ruthless hunting on eBay and Mile High Comics I've managed to scrounge up all most all of the back issues of the comic series Albedo, which probably isn't all that impressive considering I doubt most of you have heard of it.

I also collect old books, my personal favorite right now is an astronomy text book that was printed in 1935. It's pretty cool, it describes the distances between the planets in terms of how long the trip would take by train or plane and comes to the conclusion that because such a trip would be hopelessly long, we'll never be able to travel between planets. :p

I got it from a yard sale for $0.50, a steal if I've ever seen one.
