Ok so a few months back I realllyyy messed up with my Direct X and I've just about given up hope of putting it right so I've decided I want to just back up my important stuff and start again with my PC.

The problem is that I don't know if I have a windows 7 install disc for my PC, one of these; http://www.desktoppcs.org.uk/nettop/acer-aspire-revo-r3610-net-top-review/.

My question is: Will any Windows 7 installation disc work with my PC? I'm a complete computer noob so I have no idea how silly this question is but thanks anyway.

You'll specifically want a distribution which works with your CPU and RAM setup. If you have 4GB of RAM and a 64-bit CPU (something which this nettop seems to have), the 64-bit version of Windows 7 is preferable. If you only have a 32-bit CPU, the 64-bit version won't work, and you have to use the 32-bit version.

Aside from that, different versions of Windows 7 have different feature sets, and are priced accordingly. You'll probably want a cheaper version like Home Premium over Professional if price is a consideration; the additional features of Professional aren't especially useful for most people.
Ok so Windows 7 Home 64 bit. Thanks a lot, I'll root around and see if I've already got one. Not sure if I want to spend £80 just yet.
