Late late one evening my friends and I were discussing what film to watch during our inevitable hangover the following day (Machete was decided upon). One of my friends was annoyed as he had this film ordered on his LOVEFiLM account but it still had not arrived; however it turned out the film had already been acquired the old fashioned way....downloaded using a torrent.

This made me raise the question(s):

If you are a customer of a service such as LOVEFiLM/Netflix, does this justify the use of download torrents? Are you still a thief?

I don't see the point of torrenting if you already use Netflix and could stream/rent stuff.

Just seems pretty pointless to me. Do I consider it wrong? I don't know, not really I guess, but why wouldn't you just stream/rent it then?

This is assuming you delete it after watching it, and not keeping it. If you keep it it leads more towards "bad".

I am not sure but I think if you bought it, you can hold as many copies as u wish, as long as it is for personal use.

EDIT: But did he rent or buy from Ilovefilm?! If he rented then he cant torrent it or keep it beyond the rent expires.
