Bonus Round EDIT: Apparently the book is a fuck tonne more.... brutal, real[footnote] I didn't read the book so this is all hear say, as I said, the film was not to my liking.[/footnote]. Less sugar coated. But yeah, I didn't really like it, but an ex loved it. She's into a stack of drug related media.

Yeah, it's a Ledger film. It solidified my distaste for his work.

Tied with Deliverance for scariest movie of all time. Also, I loved A Scanner Darkly, but none of my friends did, so YMMV.

I still think that movie was shit. Setting out to make a movie depressing, with absolutely no other things speaking for it does not make a good or challenging movie. The mother storyline saved that movie from getting into my official top 10 crap movies everyone likes list. They just couldnt resist from shoving that DRUGS R BAD moral down your throat, could they?

Pretty harsh review. I don't see it as *just* a "DRUGS R BAD" movie, as you put it. Not that it isn't, there's just more too it in my mind. It's not just about the drugs, it's about these people throwing away all the good things they have for the immediate gain, and how it turns on them horribly.

All that being said *do* go and watch Trainspotting. It's one of those movies you don't forget

Honestly! I'm going to be the first one to say Party Monster. It is a bit more about the raver culture, but you can't really separate the two. Also make sure you watch it all the way through, otherwise you might get the wrong idea of what it's about.
