All of the Halo FPSs are great, you also would probably like Half Life 2 as well.
Not heard much about Halo that I think is that great. Seen a lot of people complain about it. Are there balance issues? I've heard people say you have too much health-does it take a long time to kill?
In Halo 3 you are given a shield that recharges much like CoD4's health, the only difference is that it is much stronger, and there is some health after that, so it does take significantly more time to kill, making consistently good aim much more important. I can't really describe it well, I suggest just watching this,

Looks pretty good. Though Reach is out so soon that I probably won't bother.

I wouldn't be able to play team fortress 2 on the PC. In what way does it suffer on a console, and will this be much of an issue? Is it just a lack of mods?
The PC version has gone through huge updates and the community is a lot bigger.
Do you know if the console version still balances well without the updates?
Not really, no updates and no patches mean people exploiting left and right, you'll see a lot of skywalkers and such. It gets quite annoying.

Like others have said.

Team Fortress 2. /thread

*EDIT* If not on pc, then you're outta luck. My tip: Go get a gaming pc, tf2 doesn't require a good one, just get one for around the same price has a ps3, get steam, buy it on sale like it always is.

i know you said no pc, but this is in case your problem is system requirments. starseige: tribes is a free VERY low pc requirment game, and is still going strong

seriously you can play this on windows 95 and a system to match

Metro 20- oh you mean multiplayer?

Get Team Fortress 2. It's the most balanced multiplayer game I can think of.

Problem solved.
What dududf said. TF2 is the definition of balanced class-based multiplayer FPS's.
Also, the games visual style looks awesome.

Edit 2: I want a game with good balanced multiplayer. A good story is a bonus, but there are lots of good single player games, so i'm currently looking for a well balanced multiplayer.
That's a shame. Cause "The Darkness" would treat you right. It's a single player experience, though. Well, there IS multiplayer, but it's dead.

I have to say that my favorite fps from the last year has to be Borderlands. It?s more co-op than competitive multiplayer but it is a lot of fun It?s a FPS with a little rpg (essentially an unending variety of guns) but my favorite from the past few years is Fallout 3 which is more RPG than FPS.

Both are a hell of a lot of fun and well worth full price (IMO, most games aren?t) but you can find Borderlands for pretty cheap now.

Played fallout. Enjoyed the RPG aspect but wasn't impressed ith the FPS side of things.

Have heard some people say borderlands is good, so may look into that.

Since PC is out the window, get Orange Box. It has TF2 for multiplayer, not to mention Half Life 2, Ep1, Ep2, and Portal.

At the moment i'm thinking of buying the Orange Box. After that, i'll wait until later in the year, and reviews, then buy either MOH or CoD, and reach. Will try and make up the money for at least one from christmas.

I've never played Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer, but from what I've seen of the campaigns the first one is better. I know I highly recommend CoD: MW. I could beat legendary difficultly on Halo 3 without a gratuitous amount of trouble, but Veteran difficulty in Modern Warfare is brutal. If you want a challenge it's the way to go.

I have never had the extra money to pay for a Live gold account, but I imagine that Left 4 Dead (2) are both good games to play online. I'll also put out another plug for borderlands. I've played a lot of co-op and it's loads of fun.
