So, I've been watching Muromi-san on the Shore recently, and I like it alot. However, I've run out of episodes to watch until some more get aired and subbed, so I'm in the market for a good comedy anime to help pass the time.

Two of my favorites are Excel Saga and Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt, to give you an idea of what kind of anime I like.

Note: Please don't recommend Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo. I've seen a bit of it, and I liked it at first, but I quickly grew tired of it.

Hataraku Maou-sama is airing alongside Muromi-san this season. It's about a demon lord who comes to the human world after getting his ass handed to him in his own world, and now he has to survive on minimum wage while working at MgRonalds.

There's always Gintama, though the 200+ episodes can be a bit daunting to start with.

Obligatory Azumanga Daioh recommendation.

There's also Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou, which is basically satire of the whole 'cute girls doing cute things' genre.

Golden Boy is the only comedy anime that I honestly enjoyed.
Which is strange too considering the concept.
So yeah, Golden Boy.

I watched Love Hina a long time ago.
I remember laughing out loud a lot while watching it.
What could possibly go wrong when putting a teenager in charge of a womens hotel-thingy?

Baka and Test summon the beasts, pretty fun school comedy with a genuine idiot as a lead.

Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei and Pani Poni Dash, both insane series that deal with social ills and nothing in particular respectively.Along with a multitude of background jokes

In that same vein Joshiraku, very weird but very funny.

Dai Mahou Touge,a short but really funny magical girl parody.

Hidamari Sketch the best of the cute girls doing cute things style of comedy

Gintama may be 200+ episodes, but every episode is solid gold (terrible play on words). You'll laugh, you'll cry, and everything in between.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Watch Full Metal Panic Fumofu then thank me later, also watch Ghost Stories.

The story behind Ghost Stories is great, it was a crappy anime that a company had to buy to get a much better anime, they realized it was crap so they let the voice actors go nuts with it.

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei I heartily recommend, alongside Azumanga Daioh. Sayonara... is available on YouTube, and I don't know where to find the anime for Azumanga Daioh right now. Most likely YouTube as well.

The English dub of Ghost Stories is amazing. It's a gag dub, so be prepared for lots of swearing and inappropriate jokes, but it's still just amazing.

Samurai Champloo is very entertaining. It can get dark and serious at times, but it's made by the same people who made Cowboy Bebop so it's structured about the same way. You've got your main bit of plot that's keeping the characters going, but most of the episodes are what amounts to filler. Amazing filler that lives up to its name (champloo means "random," which is why a series set in feudal Japan has an episode on baseball, an episode on graffiti, an episode on a style of art that didn't exist at that time, characters with glasses, and a lot of other stuff that just doesn't make any sense). It's not always "comedy," but it's always great quality stuff.

OH, and Tower of Druaga. I just about died laughing through the first episode--it went through just about every anime trope that has ever existed in 22 minutes.

I watched the first episode of that and HOLY SHIT is it some funny stuff. Absolutely perfect humor for myself.

As for anime I'd recommend: Humanity has Declined.

If not for the humor, watch for the suicidal bread.

If you don't mind something from the late 90s, go for Those Who Hunt Elves (preferably the first season; second one wasn't as memorable).

Worgen beat me to it :) I pity you if you can sit through Fumoffu without making at least a chuckle

I second this anime. Golden Boy is only 6 episodes long but it is pretty hilarious. You have to give it too episodes I think before you really get it.

I'd go for the old animes from the 90's like Golden boy but I'm scratching my head over the question because there's a thousand more comedy animes more than the serious ones.

Ninja Nonsense hasn't been mentioned and you'll probably like it since its sense of humour is similar to Excel Saga.

Slayers can be good if you like hyper-goofball/slapstick comedy in a fantasy epic.

Magical Project S is a fairly funny spoof of magical girl shows.
