Recommend me a PS2 game!

In short: What are some good PS2 games?

Ok, so here's the deal. I (like some other gamers out there somewhere) got a PS1 as my first console. Loved it to bits!

But then Sony stopped making PS1 games, I didn't have a job... long story short I never got around to upgrading to a PS2, but moved up to an Xbox 360 about 2 years ago, which is also great...

But the other day, I realised I wouldn't mind a PS2 to play all those sequels I never got around to. So I acquired a PS2 off ebay and I'm starting to add games to my collection.

Good people of The Escapist, what would you recommend?

Shadow of the Colossus and Godhand are very unique games that everyone should at leas try. If you don't have a Gamecube, then you should get Resident Evil 4. I'll edit if I can think of any others.

Any NISA game if you want a Strat RPG and grinding
Anything with Shin Megami Tensi in the name if you want a awesome rpg
Metal Gear Solid 3 because it is awesome
Anything by Gust if you want a interesting rpg (a lot are meh also)
Anything by Square-Enix(Soft) if you want more good rpgs
Xenosaga if you want a long rpg.

god of war is a great game but dont play any of the others, they have a horrid storyline

final fantasy X was fun

smugglers run was also fun, especially if you have a friend to play with/ against

shadow of the colossus is a given

metal gear solid 3 is amazing (MGS2 is ok if you dont mind playing as a whining girly-man)

red faction is extremely fun with destructible environment

and for the love of god, dont get killzone! the game is broken, has a simplisticly idiotic storyline, and is a horrible FPS
