Persona 3: FES and Persona 4.

Truly innovative and amazing RPGs.

God of War 1 + 2, Devil May Cry 1 + 3

The best of the best for PS2 hack n slash.

Midnight Club 3 and Gran Turismo 4

Midnight Club has your arcade-y needs taken care of, GT4 has the sims down.

No they just did what Western RPGs have done for years. There still good games though and two for the few JPGs that i actually like, probably because it actually lets you ROLEPLAY.

try the PS2 version of Deus Ex. I heard it is not as good as the PC version but it might be wort a try.

Any Ratchet and Clank or Jak games (minus X Racing). I'm particularly fond of Silent Hill 3, Metal Gear Solid 3, and Hitman Blood Money.

Happy shopping

If you have a PS2 it is practically an obligation to buy at least one Ratchet & Clank game. I suggest Ratchet & Clank 2 (personal favourite).

I appreciate the fact that this doesn't fall within your favourite genres, but I heartily recommend James Bond: Nightfire for endless multiplayer fun. It's like GoldenEye, but with better graphics and none of that fiddly N64 controller nonsense.

Not meaning to sound rude, but we've had this thread many [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.244367-Good-PS2-Games] god [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.242747-My-pathetic-PS2-Collection-Now-with-a-breaking-PS2] damned [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.247544-Best-PS2-RPGs] times [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.246554-PS2-reccomendations?page=2]

Take a look there, I think the link that's called god is a PS2 RPG thread...

Yay! I'm glad you're asking for recommendations on the PS2; that's the only console I can really recommend any games for. Here we go:
-Okami. This'll take you ages to complete, not counting all the things you can collect
-Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas/Vice City. Either of these games are really fun.
-Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec: a very good racing game.
-Crimson Tears: engrossing storyline and great battle system.
-God of War: definitely get this if you haven't already. Epic!
-Rez: hard to explain how this game is, I suggest looking on youtube~
-Outrun 2006 Coast-2-coast: Racing game, I think you'll enjoy it
-Jak and Daxter The Precursor Legacy: the first game in the series of J&D games. If you don't like this one, you might not like the others, but the other games in this series feature guns and flying vehicles, so...if you like that, go for Jak II!
-Ratchet and Clank: great weapons, storyline, scenery and humorous dialogue.
-ICO: a lonely boy and girl have to escape a prison via puzzles. Very enticing.
-Tekken 5: pure fighting, very fun, doesn't really need an introduction
-Dragon Quest Journey of the Cursed King: very fun game and will take you ages to complete.

Hope this helped you a bit!

Get Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne(eBay pretty much necessary) it's the predecessor to Persona 3 and it's hella awesome with lots of divergent endings and a great plot. It's also the most challenging RPG you'll ever play. There' also Devil Summoner and Digital Devil Saga in the SMT category.

DRAGON QUEST VIII, BUY IT NOW YOU MUST.

Chaos Legion, my personal favourite hack 'n slash game.

Okami, a great platformer with a beautiful art direction.

Katamari Damacy. If you're on acid.

Best of the 3

For hack and Slash go for anything with Dynasty Warriors or Samurai Warriors. They are so addicting. So much worse than drugs. They aren't the best games but they are damn fun if you get into them.
